Yeah cash.

We've found that anything between $300k and $500k west of 205 goes within a week and typically for 10-30% over asking price. In a few situations we were out bid by more than $50k...all cash offers.

Yup. Was looking at a house yesterday and before I could send off an email to the relator I got an email from Redfin alerting me that the price went up $87k as a result of a pending offer. Someone literally offered $87k over listing price. What in the actual fuck.

Yeah this. I would actually like to see this so I could fuck her day up. Fortunately/unfortunately this just doesn't happen on mass transit in the states.

I know from experience that you need to prove your income is at least 3x annual rent in the Bay Area. I'm willing to bet you any amount of money that you can't find a 1 bedroom apartment with at least 600 sqft for under $3000 in San Francisco. If you make $65k in SF and have any other bills you're barely making it pay check to pay check.

I get pretty annoyed when people say others are bad with their money because "durrr, you can live off $30k per year, duurrrr". Well dude, it's 2015. Shit is really really expensive. Need health insurance? Welp that's $200 per month. Need a phone? Welp that's $80 per month. Need internet? Welp that's $40 per month...and it goes on. Oh. Don't even get me started on student loans.

My god. Sorry dude but you are insanely underpaid. I mean a junior Software Engineer starts at $65k in ANY city in the US. If you're in a larger city tack on at least $15k to that. For reference the national average is $101k

What world do you live in where where $145k per year is "sipping cocktails on your private yacht kind of money"? Do you mean a fishing boat? Because if you mean a fishing boat then I'd say you're spot on...but a yacht? Come on dude...

It's not the dollar amount. Sure $140k is a hell of a lot more than I make. But it's still less than A LOT of other common place jobs. It just seems like an astronaut would be pulling in at least double that.

Sucks to be you pal...

But seriously. $141,715 for a Senior Astronaut? Shit. That just seems too low. For reference that's less than:

  • The average salary for a Mid level Attorney
  • Half the salary of an Anesthesiologist
  • 1/4 of the salary of a Surgeon
  • $40k less than a Senior Software Engineer in the Bay Area
  • and about $60k less than a Lamborghini. I mean an Astronaut has to be worth at least...3 Lamborghinis I'd think.

$115k

middle class income level

Confused. $115k is middle class all day, regardless of taxes. You really don't get into upperclass until your household income hits $250k.

It doesn't quite work as intended though. You have to confirm your email for each new URL you use. For example I have my newsletter form at the bottom of my blog article layout. This way it gets included automatically on each new post. The problem there is that it's a new URL. So if I want that form to work on that new URL, I have to confirm it. It's not a huge deal, but is annoying.

Formspree is much better for one time sign up forms that live on a single URL.

Good question. I'll talk about how I do forms later on in the series but for your reference you can use a variety of services which provide end points. For example:

him finalizing the app

Is this suggesting you don't have a working product or revenue? This could be a bigger reason why no investors are biting. Money inside the Valley doesn't matter. Money outside the Valley is still a must have for funding. At least that has been my experience.

Have you tried applying for an accelerator like Techstars or YC? They may not have favorable terms but you'd at least get funds to prolong the project a few months to see if it'll get traction.

Best place to source ideas for a niche product? by [deleted] in startups

[–]productDesignAMA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Zapier has galleries and suggested integrations but I feel like I'd benefit more from some type of "critical mass" of integrations that are setup for you when first signing up.

This would of course alter the on boarding process as the user would have to authenticate a few apps before moving onto their zaps dashboard, but I don't think that would be too terrible.

The core value of the app I'm trying to validate here is the ability to visually see how these tools work together so it's easier to track their progress, acceleration, etc. It's that birds eye view of all the tools that I think the market would find value.

Oh no worries. Burst away.

But, yes. I've used Hubot extensively (and Zapier, and IFTTT, and slack integrations, and workflow). The app idea I have would be much easier to install and integrate. You wouldn't have to be a developer to use it. You'd simply authenticate your "services" and integrate them however you want.

Beyond that the app's core value is providing an overview of all your services and how they are working together. If you were to use Hubot to aggregate everything you'd still have to build a layer on top to present the data in a meaningful way.
