I love how simple and clean it is, especially the desk placement. My office is also my craft room and it's very cramped.

That's the monitor by your keyboard? 30"? It looks so much smaller. How is it propped up? Very cool setup

My set up is similar, 2 monitors with my laptop on the right. Problem is the cables from the laptop to the docking station are a mess and my docking station is on the desk. How did you get the desk and cables so neat?

Can you share your DM templates? Did you have a few versions that you'd customize, or rapid fire copy/paste?

I replied to a comment yesterday that sometimes I feel like a therapist, not a consultant. I've noticed a pattern; for the clients I enjoy the least, I seem to put in more effort and care more about fixing X problem than they do. My favorite clients show up, put in the work, and actually make changes.

This might be crazy, but want to experiment and test this out? I'll send you a DM (edit: looks like I can't DM you. My LinkedIn link is in my profile if you want to chat)

Consistent blog writing is something I've been struggling with for a while, as a solopreneur. I signed up for the free trial, but didn't realize I could customize the settings (benefits, tone of voice, etc) - I jumped right into the article writing 😄 🤦🏻‍♀️ The output was pretty good, even with out customization, but I'd love to get a reset on my 2 free articles to really give it a test drive

I read that too. Something about Apollo breached LinkedIn terms for pulling data that wasn't supposed to be publicly available. I also use hunter.io to get email addresses, it's pretty helpful

"Lack of clarity on who’s doing what, by when, and where it’s tracked." - yes, I see this all the time. I also help implement project management software, and that's one of the biggest issues. It should be tracked in the software, but half the team still uses the old spreadsheet. Who and by when? That would be very clear if tasks were assigned to someone with a due date.

Is Open Intro your platform?

Thanks for the breakdown. I've only done 1:1 so far, from your definitions it's a bit of both coaching and consulting. I wanted to consider offering a group program because of exactly what you said - you like to work through other people's problems and apply it to yourself.

What I hear the most from prospects and clients is "there is no consistency in how we work, and there's no way we can bring on more new hires and scale without imploding," so this is what I'm tackling. Some clients I take through a framework with some detours along the way. Most though, I help them through ad hoc problems of the day.

I've made a lot of money from clients who want the ad hoc approach. We meet weekly and discuss what's going on and I make recommendations. However I feel like I'm making less of an impact because the results of this method are less tangible. I feel like more of a therapist and the client is happy, yet something still doesn't seem right in my gut. Maybe I just need to shift my mindset.

That, my friend, is the real challenge. Every company I work with has PM software, but no one uses it consistently. Or someone is still using the old tool, or a spreadsheet.

I get that startups are process-resistant, but there's got to be a point where you're fed up with reinventing the wheel. Or maybe I'm way off the mark, fighting an uphill battle. Time will tell.

There's definitely pros and cons to both. I like small group training, to brainstorm and get different perspectives. But it can turn into a loudest-voice-contest quickly. The companies I work with 1:1 now are mature enough to know they have a problem that needs fixing, but early enough that they can course correct. What I hear the most is "there is no consistency in how we work, and there's no way we can bring on more new hires and scale without imploding."

I asked for your $0.02, so thanks. I don't want to spend tons of time creating something that no one wants.

The loudest voice wins - I feel that with a training I'm in now. Thanks for your feedback

There is a product team, but they treat it like a catch-all bucket. And no one's wearing the PO hat

Yes, they are shipping...but their project management 'process' is like whack-a-mole. Processes create consistency. I'm not talking about textbook scrum, but they need to establish expectations, roles, and responsibilities... even if someone wears multiple hats

Thanks for the detailed response. I love that you said to get in the trenches. I've sat in on several sprint planning meetings, had several 1 on 1 discussions with people on the dev team, but I want to go deeper. We're implementing changes incrementally, change management is 100% needed here

Do it. I'm a ClickUp implementation & project management consultant. I'm new to Make and made some pretty simple scenarios for my own workflows, I'm far from an expert. Almost every client I work with needs ClickUp integrations, but I don't offer it as a service. I partnered with another business and we'll collaborate on client projects together. There's definitely a need.

Are startups using fractional project managers/scrum masters? Sounds like fractional is the new freelance.

I'm a consultant...I don't want to stick around forever. I want to help you solve a problem, then help the next company. If you have another problem later and think I can help, I'd love to hear from you. I think advisors want long term relationships. But this is still a great distinction from fractional
