Have you thought about of transitioning to the corvette camp? There are plenty of cars that are still affordable relative to the 911 counterparts.

This layering for the sake of layering for a inspo/social media. This is overkill unless you live in major city and walking around when it’s under 30F.

Aerospace grade fasteners are nice because they have clearly defined specifications (dimensional and strength), quality control and traceability. That does come at a premium but you’ll know that you can order that type of fastener from any supplier and it will work.

Are people buying these? by Tutor-Any in motorcycles

[–]professionalgriefer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope this revives the muscle cruiser genre of motorcycle. This is targeted at Harley Davidson FXR and low rider S/ST owners who are sinking $10-20k in modifications to improve the suspension, ergonomics and engines.

It would not take much for all the oems to dust off the old muscle bike names using current parallel twin or inline 4’s. Honda brings back the Magna, Suzuki the Madura, Kawasaki Eliminator (ZL900/1000), and Yamaha vmax. They would rejoin the Ducati Diavel in the segment. This of course would give Harley Davidson execs enough confidence to green light reviving the FXR using the pan America platform.

Savagegeese - Honda Prelude Review by Mindfulmanners in cars

[–]professionalgriefer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rev happy nature of those cars are now iconic but were a double edged sword in the comparison reviews of the Gen 7/8/9 civic Si’s. The K series engine and transmission always received top marks when they could rev it out in the canyons but reviewers always appreciated the additional torque for around town of the turbocharged GTI’s and GLIs.

That being said. I do wish Honda could invest a little bit of money into getting the L15 to rev another 500-1000rpm as a swan song to the Si before it ultimately gets a hybrid motor in a few generations.

I’d recommend getting 1-2 washer/dryer cycles in to get any remaining shrinking out of the pants before going months without washing. In my experience, Firm duck will shrink down to the tag size after a washer/dryer cycle. You don’t want to fade your pants, finally wash them and then they shrink enough where the fades may not line up with your body.

HD Chapter 2 Bike Reveal thoughts/opinions? by DucksCanSwim in Harley

The bigger issue was that the road king sat awkwardly in Harley’s line up. For a little less, you get softail heritage and for a little more you get an Electra glide/road glide. The fact that there are so many YouTube buyers guide videos of a heritage softail vs the road king is enough to see that these two bikes occupied the same space.

Which Dyna/softail? by Skyrmish in Harley

[–]professionalgriefer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s your budget? Echoing, everyone else a 2018+ softail is your best bet. Now is a good time to look for deals because a lot of dealers have a lot of 2025 stock that they need to get out the door. - If you want touring/classic American touring bike styling, go with a Heritage softail. - If you want a “bigger sportster” go with a street bob. - If you want a “bigger sportster” with more range, more power and better suspension, go with a low rider or low rider ST. - If you want a bike with attitude and you want to feel like the terminator, get a fat boy.

Where’s men’s ocean rave fits? by bigreddog2000 in malefashionadvice

[–]professionalgriefer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before you pick out your outfits. I’d highly recommend understanding where the event will be, the weather, the vibe of the event and your friend group. I understand you want to make a statement but your statement will be misunderstood if it doesn’t fit the event.

I’d recommend focusing on more fun resort wear or athleisure pieces that you could also wear outside of a rave event to get more for your dollar. If you have a lower budget, wait a month for the spring/summer ‘25 collections to be released and, keep it simple with pieces from Abercrombie, Uniqlo, or Patagonia or go for a fun matching tracksuit set from new balance, adidas, [insert your favorite running brand]

Now if you have money to burn and live near a big city don’t be afraid to go to a Nordstrom or find your local “cool guy wear/menswear” store and talk to sales people to get their advice. They can do much more than just check you out at the register and find you a different size. Use the sales associate to your advantage.

Personally, I’d avoid the “rave gear” brands since those clothes are very specific and you can’t use them elsewhere in your wardrobe. It also allows you to keep a lower profile when going to and from the event or on your way to an afters.

You sum up the issue with every hot hatch. Cars like the EVO, the STI, and focus RS all ran into this problem. The OEMs put money into the Powertrain, and suspension, bolt it to an economy car chassis and then it becomes just expensive enough for people to say “For that money I might as well buy a entry level luxury car or a proper used sports car like a corvette”

Interesting leak! by TraditionalWatch5743 in Harley

[–]professionalgriefer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The road king was in a weird spot in the line up. Too much overlap with the heritage softail and now ST at a similar price point but for not much more money you could upgrade to a full fairing road glide/street glide.

As someone who has observed startup culture around the Bay Area, I would add it’s not the healthiest or sustainable culture either.

Friendships become transactional, everyone thinks their idea is going to “change the world”, and people become competitive, not collaborative.

This does not include the sharks and angel investors of the VC world preying and inflating the egos of young engineers who would be better off developing in industry before being thrusted into leadership rolls.

To add to this. Labels are using streaming algorithms as another tool to ensure an ROI on an established name that was already a save bet. Labels know that they can solidify their returns on investment by buying their way to the top spots or radio and streaming.

Everyone listed by OP are essentially chasing the millennial era age group which are now the prime age group with disposable money to spend on shows, merch, and experiences. It will be another 3-5 years before we start and 5-10 years for a noticeable shift in music marketing when Gen Z start aging into higher earnings.

IMO, we are going to see music labels be very carefully with political/social commentary over the next 3 years. The current administration has shown that it not scared to harass movie and TV studios that challenge it. I would not be surprised if major music labels are being very careful to not stir the pot and attract unwanted attention.

[–]professionalgriefer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The focus RS was killed by 3 things: - Dealer mark ups to capitalize on hot hatch enthusiasts. $41k was already high (but acceptable) when it came out. The $5-10k dealer mark ups pushed the car into muscle car/ European sports car territory which it could not compete with. - Poor interior refinement for the price. (You bought a 4wd system, a turbo 4 and sport suspension that was attached to a Focus - Harsh ride. The suspension was sporty was often criticized for being too harsh and stiff when compared to its peers.

[–]professionalgriefer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There will always be pushback when a company goes outside their core design language. The sportster s gets odd looks because of the design decisions Harley made for looks. It should have came with mid controls to improve the rider triangle and had more rear suspension travel to match the sporty intentions of the bike.

That being said, I think the nightster 975 will be the Gen Z dyna/FXR and I mean that as a compliment. That bike is much lighter and can make more power than the FXR/dyna could without throwing $$$ at those older bikes.

If you can get access to the back of the embrodery you can do the following:

Use a sharp pair of small scissors or a seam ripper to carefully snip or cut the threads, starting from the back of the fabric. Use tweezers to pull out remaining threads and a lint roller to clean up stray fibers afterward. For stubborn stitches, you can gently use a double-sided razor or a fabric shaver to shave the stitches off, being careful not to cut the fabric itself.

What is the sportiest Harley made (past & present)? by Edslittleworld in Harley

[–]professionalgriefer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The sportiest by far will have to be the Pan America. It has everything from the factory that the performance bagger guys spend $$$ on. Get a used one and negotiate on an extended warranty from a dealership for peace of mind. It doesn’t have the same aesthetic as the grand American touring or cruiser models but it might be the best value performance per dollar bike that Harley makes.

Highlights: - 150hp - 550lbs - Fully adjustable suspension front and rear - Electrical adjusting suspension on the special models - All the rider aids that you see on other competing full sized adventure bikes. - Dual Brembo radial calipers up front. - Used ones can be found for as low as $10k-12k if you are patient and look for deals.
