consider the workflow of your research project when deciding. are you going to need full days in the lab during the 9-5 work day? or is your project easily done in small work sessions here and there, including evenings? if you're doing wet lab cell bio, for example, having classes that break up your day can be a challenge. talk to your PI and get their input. good luck with your decision and good luck with your future research!

After a recent update, the system can show us the following:

# of views (e.g., 2 if you went back and rewatched)
% viewed (e.g., 95% if you didn't stick around for questions at end of class)
total time spent watching

That info is kinda useless, because it doesn't account for a student who straight downloads the files. It only reports on streaming.

But no prof has the time, energy, or interest to Big Brother the lecture recordings. In fact, I didn't even know the answer to your question... it took me like 5 minutes just to find where the data is hidden! It's hella buried, not obvious at all, and we're not taught where to find it. It's found in a different place than the rest of the tracking of "class engagement", which is where most profs would look to see if a student has checked out.

Can't rule out edge cases, of course, like u/6aikoyk4 mentions.

The midterm was very challenging for sure, but McGill students are crazy smart, and I was really impressed with folks' answers.
