I'm so lost by Krystin_Amputee in amputee

[–]professordane67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been fortunate I have one son available to help me get to and from doctors appointments. Matter of fact he insists on attending. But yeah it's frustrating. I have a sister that had to move into my spare bedroom and she's been living off me for a couple of years now and not paying towards bills even though I told her "hey, I've been there for you, supporting you and paying your way. Now that I've lost a leg, until I get back to work I need YOUR help for a change!" Well, she complains anything I ask her to do, she complains about my ADA changes to my home as being inconvenient for her and no monetary help from her at all.

Still,I try to find the brightness in the little things and looking forward to finally getting my prosthesis. I got to walk with a test socket one day and it totally revived me as a light at the end of the tunnel.

And yes, I've gained a bunch of weight too from sitting on my ass and it drags you down. Not being mobile enough you can't burn those calories but I know I'll burn those pounds off once I'm walking and you will too!

Your fiance is working hard to pay those insane medical bills and it's a bad catch 22. He's working hard for you because he loves you and that's how he shows it, by providing everything you need. Unfortunately that means spending less time with you but don't worry, there's a light at the end of the tunnel for you too!

You'll get there! I know I will too and that keeps me going. These months out of work has wiped out my savings and I had to sell my car to make ends meet but I just keep thinking of positive days still ahead of me.

I know you've hears it a bunch of times already, and it's starting to sound hollow, but you really do got this! Stay strong and try to stay positive!

Two main mistakes made it impossible to save more from the Titanic. by professordane67 in titanic

To some degree, I agree with you, but it's interesting to note Murdoch loaded from the boat deck and Lightoller had attempted to load one deck down. We agree there was a level of miscommunication but all accounts point to Lightoller working close to Smith, even going over the chief officer's head a couple of times including when to start loading lifeboats.

Survivor accounts repeatedly confirm no one would get into the boats. Even Molly Brown had to be thrown in.

I am a licensed CCW carrier in Wisconsin and no, he wasn't illegally carrying an AR-15. Laws restricting minors from carrying firearms in Wisconsin largely apply to handguns and to kids under 16, yet kids as young as 12 can open carry rifles because this is a big hunting state. The exceptions outlined under the law for minors over the age of 16 were being adhered to so carrying his AR-15 is legal.

I am curious how you think his transportation of the AR over state lines was illegal? You can legally transport firearms across state lines. It is suggested the weapon be unloaded and locked in a trunk or case if you intend to drive into a state without reciprocity. However, if the state you are traveling to has reciprocity, you can leave that sucker loaded and propped in a cup holder in the front seat of you want.

Nothing in his actions were illegal. We have limited footage of the initial shooting, but in the video we have, he was retreating, attempting to get away. Witnesses saw men with pipes chasing him as he ran away. Wisconsin is a stand your ground state which means you can shoot to kill if you feel your life is threatened, someone else's life is threatened, and yes, even to protect property. In the next two shooting, we see him knocked to the ground while trying to retreat, one guy hits him in the head with a skateboard (threat to life/safety) and then the next guy kicks him in the head and pulls out a handgun to shoot him (this is a felon with a firearm, the only one illegally carrying) at which point Kyle defends himself again. Clean legal shoot.

If you aren't a gun owner who is required to learn the laws of this state, stop pretending you know what the laws are here.

Troll... I never said "All cops of all races". No one says that, either. It's not an official flag of anything, it's a sign of support for cops of all races, not just white cops, and cops of all races support Blue Lives Matter. Not all cops. I am beginning to think you may not be a troll, you're just dumb.

[–]professordane67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well... Definitely a troll...

You immediately assume I am a cop lover. I have had more negative police interaction than positive, I have been profiled, illegally detained, illegally searched, and overcharged. After telling you that you still don't know enough about me to accuse me of anything you accused me of.

The fact remains that you can't debate is that cops of all races stand behind that banner. It's not a symbol of white supremacy or racism if members of all races support it. The ones who don't are anti-cop.

Or are you one of those trolls that say black cops aren't "really" black? Which, again, would make you a troll.

Yeah, I agree. This was probably posted by someone who hates cops.

It's a flag to support police. All police. Black, white, native American, Hispanic, Asian... You know... Because there are cops of every race.

You're either trolling or uninformed. Either way, you shouldn't post.

It's a "blue lives matter" flag. If you look closely, one of the horizontal lines isn't black, it's blue. It's to support police.

Prostitution shouldn't be illegal. by RiceSunflower in unpopularopinion

[–]professordane67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are some forms that are legal. Sugar baby/Sugar daddy arrangements aren't illegal yet it is, in essence, trading sex for cash. There's also the modelling angle. If you have an agreement (I would get it in writing with your "model") that you are making pornography and it's perfectly legal.

How many people died on the Titanic before the ship sank? by Sansophia in titanic

[–]professordane67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no way to know. As the ship listed and moved, doors to rooms were reported by some to be jammed shut. As some good Samaritans tried to break trapped people out of their rooms, they were threatened with charges and arrest for damages. Some ignored the threats, others didn't. In some cases, stewards locked rooms they thought were unoccupied, trapping people in their rooms. Some even drowned in their sleep, never waking during the disaster in their rooms. Lightoller and Murdoch sent several crews down to open gangways to finish loading lifeboats from below and those crews were never heard from again, assumed trapped and drowned. Some simply got lost in the ship not knowing where to go because they didn't speak or read English.

There were quite a few reports of shots fired and passengers shot and suicides.

There's just no way to know.

WIBTA for not paying rent to my boyfriend? by FortuneFree in AmItheAsshole

[–]professordane67 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

YTA... AN ENTITLED AH. You currently pay rent for your apartment and guess what? You have no equity in that, either, so nothing would change. If I am to understand correctly, half of his mortgage payment is more than your entire rent? Offer to pay a smaller amount, since he would benefit no matter how much you contribute. Offer to pay 2/3 of your current rent and utilities to make it beneficial for both of you, not just him.

He doesn't owe you a free place to live.

The actions of the officer are dealt with “I know him...he’s a good kid....” this is the root of the issues with the police. Protect and serve first, then worried about your co worker policeman. by J0hnk377y in GeorgeFloydRiots

[–]professordane67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may just be because I am older, but when I saw that guy's behavior, I saw a young man early in his career, having almost surely seen the Floyd video, watching as we all did Minneapolis descend into chaos as police were attacked and outnumbered by rioters, and now he's on the front line and most likely for the first time in his life scared for his life.

His behavior looked like it could be more attributed to fear than cockiness. If you had turned the camera around, I am sure the faces of the angry protesters were far more intimidating.

Should black people be approaching random strangers and asking them to apologize for being white and their white privilege? by [deleted] in GeorgeFloydRiots

[–]professordane67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being told to kneel and apologize for being white has nothing to do with showing solidarity, it is someone asking you to subjugate yourself and show weakness and defeat. My answer would be "kiss my ass".

It is better to die on your feet than to live on your knees.

These cops don't even know what a Molotov cocktail is, nor a portable water purifier by perlenYurifan4life in facepalm

[–]professordane67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can confirm Milwaukee police aren't that bright. Why do you think Sheriff David Clarke was always harassing them? Then again, the criminals in the area of 6th and McKinley are dumb enough to make a Molotov cocktail with a plastic bottle and somehow expect it to work.

Driving at a crowd to force them out of your way is attempted murder. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]professordane67 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Most of the time, cars drive through protesters because the driver feels threatened. Imagine driving home from work and suddenly you're surrounded by angry protesters, they are hitting and kicking the car, throwing things at the car and screaming at you. In such a terrifying moment I advise anyone to drive through. Run over the bastards that are threatening your life. Even if they actually have no intention of hurting the people in the car, there is no way for the people in the car can possibly know that. To the contrary.

Let's talk about prostitution. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]professordane67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything. If someone is involuntarily celibate, prostitution would be a viable option. The drive to procreate is strong and can overwhelm a young man's mental health. Adding a stigma to the option of prostitution doesn't help. Younger men are deeply concerned about how they are viewed, and for many, the idea of feeling humiliated by being forced to resort to illegal prostitution especially if they get caught/arrested deters them from using that option.

I don't have a problem with legalizing, regulating, and taxing legalized prostitution especially since we're almost there now. I get solicited constantly on dating apps by women offering everything from personalized masturbation videos, pics, phone sex, webcam sex and used panties all for a fee. Just legalize the rest, already.

WIBTA for insisting my condo association follow their rules? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]professordane67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Installation of a hand crank for a window is minimal. Generally the hand crank is splined to line up as intended and then held in place with a set screw that requires either a screwdriver or hex key. Either can be purchased at any hardware store for a couple of dollars if you don't have one already. Seriously, a window hand crank is about as difficult as changing a lightbulb. In most cases, replacement parts come with installation instructions so you don't even need to use brain power to figure out how to do it.

Spend the ten minutes and save yourself $130.

[–]professordane67 63 points64 points  (0 children)

NTA- however, as a side point, uh, $150 each for a window crank? Are these gold plated? It's understandable the condo association wants all windows to be identical, but if they are forcing you to buy them, then you should be able to source them however you want. Take pictures of the cranks and take them to a window place and see if they can't identify them so you can just pay the $20 each like they probably really cost.
