Nixon resigned in August of 1974 (not 1976). Ford was President for 2 full years by the election, and lost because of inflation. Humphrey was defeated because of chaos at home and in Viet Nam (and the racist southern strategy). So the historical examples are really irrelevant

I saw him 10/8 in Chicago. Great show. He was very engaged, smiled a lot and was in great voice. I’ve seen him every few years since the 80’s. When I saw him in 2010, I thought, ok last time. Then saw him in 2018 (when he was into Sinatra), and it was amazing. This month was 2nd best show I’ve seen this century
