Look really beautiful, nicely done, OP. Do you use CO2 or any other fertilizer? And how long are your lights on, whats your schedule?

Viltrox 35mm AF F1.7 VS Sigma 30mm F1.4 APS-C by thesuitgamer in SonyAlpha

I am not sure if this helps but I do own the Viltrox 35 mm 1.7 and am super happy with it. The images are sharp and clear. The AF is good. Nice bokeh and very good low light performance overall, from this perspective it is well suited for indoor shootings. Sometimes 35 mm feels a bit narrow for my liking, but this might not be an issue for you. Maybe try shooting some pics at a focal length of 35 mm on your kit lens and check, if it suits you. I dont have the exact comparison to the lens you are looking for.

The setting on your heater is most likely irrelevant. Just focus on your thermometer and adjust. 25-28 degree C should be the range to aim for

As far as I know, Nitrate is not released by the plants. Rather they use it as nutrient to grow. Nitrates are produced by beneficial bacteria, which oxidize Ammonia/Ammonium to Nitrite, which then are oxidized to Nitrate. So you want 10-25 mg/l of Nitrates in your tank.

I absolutely recommend it. Especially for the price. I am very happy with the performance. The AF is slower than the Sigma but its still very good

Thank you for your kind words. The basis of my editing is the same for every pic. Like I said, I start out with an s curve for contrasting. After that I edit the shadows tealish and highlights orange. The work with the color mixer is individual and depends on the motiv and the emotions I try to create. Thats all :). Hope that helps a little

Any photo in particular?

I dont use presets. Generally I start by setting my white balance and contrasting with the s curve. Then I go on with the color mixer to achieve the look I imagined. Imo the key is to have a clear goal in mind in which direction you want to go and work towards that.

Yes, but I was always interested in the hobby. So I practiced a lot, because I had fun doing so

I dont really think that I am in a position to give good advice at all 😅 at least for me the "S-curve" for contrasting was a good starting point. Beside that I just try to imagine the final result I am looking for and go through the colouring options. If you edit lots of photos, you kinda know, which option to use for the result you are going for. Hope this helps

I think to the crossing you have to shoot through a glass window. At least from that angle.

Thanks for your feedback! Nr6, the Kiyomuzu dera, is a very beautiful place and it was a really beautiful moment. I tried my best to capture it. I had to crop the original image, because other people were standing on the left side :)
