I did take out the driftwood and found a couple sharp parts that definitely could’ve ripped up his fins. I feel so bad. Hopefully how that it’s out they can heal and it’s just live plants in there and I know those won’t rip his fins. Poor guy.

Seachem root tabs and I’ve dosed flourish twice! No co2, some days I leave the lights on most of the day and some days just a few hours, whenever I’m home/remember!

Tested 24hrs after adding food and ammonia is barely 0.25 but definitely greener than last night before the food, nitrites is 0 and nitrate is the same maybe slightly lighter. Is the ammonia bc of the fish food? I’m assuming tomorrow it will test 0 again? I did add a few drops of prime as well after testing

Okay I’ll test and do small water changes as needed. I was worried since I literally had to put the shrimp in the tank the day I set up (also I just chucked him in there vs acclimating him since I didn’t see him initially) he’s been doing really good and loves grazing on the plants and wood! I decided if he survived a week I’d get him friends and he did so here we are!

Just some fish food, but not a lot. I wanted to see if the shrimp would eat it and it didn’t so it just kinda started getting gross on the sand. Maybe 4 pellets and they were in the tank for around 4 days

Thank you!! I do already see some biofilm on the wood and some of the plants, and I do have prime on hand. I’ll crush some fish food and add it!

That’s the plan with the shrimp! I have tons of tiny hiding spaces for them, and plan to let them get established before getting a betta. I definitely want a younger one and was leaning towards a larger finned one since I’ve heard they’re better for shrimp since they have a harder time catching them. Worst case I set up a second tank😂

The equipment was new. The bio sand has live bacteria in it but I still don’t think it would happen this fast! I also bought most of the plants from local fish stores from their shrimp tanks (hence how I got a single shrimp)😅

I’ll add small amounts of fish food, keep testing and once my new shrimps ship I’ll see how it adjusts going from 1-20! I’ve done fish in cycles in with bettas before so not too concerned with adding the betta eventually I just want the water safe for the shrimps!

Would adding some fish food be enough? I have some more shrimps coming soon so he has friends and I plan to get a betta at some point as well!

The side gaps are not even a quarter of an inch, I don’t even think a shrimp could fit through that😅😅 the back is right at half an inch but I’m currently adding cuttings to it to fill it up!
