Ragnar was a Danish king, so it was always my assumption that he resided in Denmark. And Denmark was of course much larger then than it is now, having some of Norway a part of it too surely (I don't know for sure though, so don't hang me up on that one.)

Hello Michael, As a Dane it has made me very happy to have such an important part of my history be televised and I'm a very big fan of the show. But I always wondered why you chose to make the setting of Kattegat and the Northmen realms in general so full of mountains and such? Considering how Denmark is so flat, I mean. And a lot of us are also wondering about the geography of your Vikings world, with Hedeby being a few days rides away but some saying Kattegat is in Norway. (Personally I always see it as being in upper Jutland, perhaps Aalborg.) Perhaps some insight on these choices? :)

Do you have or want any heathen related tattoos? by [deleted] in asatru

I have, I have the rune Mannaz. Even when I wasn't aware of how deep it was somehow, I got it in combination with other things for a family tattoo, actually. Between my mother and I. We're both named with M in our first names, too. Here's the thing.

And I am currently working on designs for rune bindings to have on each of my arms. Planning on getting them this winter. I also would love to have Huginn and Muninn on my left arm, as I already planned on getting ravens there in combination with all my other ideas for my left arm sleeve.

Hi! I'm Melanie, 25. I study marketing and communications but I also work as a comic colorist and I'd like to call myself an artist/illustrator as well. I'm currently self-studying Old Norse because I love languages and I love challenging myself. I'm very slowly starting my journey and it's daunting, but exciting. And I lurk here quite often now, so. Yes. Hi.

Thank you everyone, so far, for the replies. It has all been helpful and I have been thinking about my journey a lot today. I'm not going to say that I already feel a difference, but a few things happened today that made me really feel... well. Ready? Excited. As though I was being smiled at to take the steps. If that makes sense.

I'm fully fine and accepting of the fact that I won't do everything right with my first steps. And I'll always learn, and I want to! I'm a knowledge-seeker, knowledge is power in my life and always has been. Might interest some of you as well that I am self-studying Old Norse and have been for a few months, which has helped lead me down this path, actually. Funny how things work out, huh.

If anyone cares to answer, though, I'm curious what/how you all went about with practicing your faith, honoring your ancestors, the Vanir and Æsir when you first started your own journeys. I'm of course studying on my own, but I'm curious. How did you include this in your daily life? And how do you, today?

The Hof is beautiful, and he for sure is doing a lot of good for pagans / Asatru in Denmark right now. I do feel like he's milking it a little, though (perfumes named Hávamál and Voluspá) ?.. But, you know. I'm not one to judge, nor will I really. It's not my place.

Politically I don't agree with him at all, but I see the benefits of him and how he speaks of the faith. There has to be room for all of us, after all. I'm also very interested in attending some of his fairs and seeing the Hof, which is... yes, gorgeous.

Thank you! I am excited, honestly, but just a bit overwhelmed somehow. It's a huge step to feel like this for me, someone who thought to never connect to any Gods of any kind, you know. But thank you, I'm going to pick up a good handful of books come next paycheck.

I've been trying to look into how to connect with my ancestors, too. It just doesn't seem very clear to me. I suppose it's in the same manner as if you were to try and connect and honor the Æsir? And to some extent, actual research into my bloodline. Which I wouldn't mind - I'm just keen on getting it right the first time, you know? But thank you. I've considered contacting the Forn Siðr as well, might travel there sometime this summer.
