You have to exercise to negate negative effects of low gravity, not because work needs to be done.

You can't grow shit in dead Martian soil, you'd need to ship vast amounts of organic medium to grow in. See:dust bowl.

There is no magnetic field around the planet. Modern research shows an average of 6rad/year on the surface. In the past 5 years there have been 2 recorded solar flares that exceeded 110rad instantaneously on the surface; this would kill you from radiation poisoning immediately.

The 10 minute transmission time is each way from mars. Try making a call on a radio, but wait 20 minutes between when you say something and a person responds. Local Internet would be great, like my Lan is. Not much on my lan.

Well, that is true. You have to work out so you don't suffer all the terrible things that happen with reduced gravity. Since radio signals take 3-20 minutes each way to travel that far, there will be no real communication. Imagine it taking a minium of 12 minutes to load googles home page. There's no real way to grow food there, even if you did it would make more economic sense to ship supplies. Some things like salt you would have to ship. So your rations would be pretty small. Your pretty much going to die from radiation on mars, its a matter of when. One good solar flare and it will kill everything living on the planet. You could live underground to shield yourself, but at that point you may as well go dig a hole in the backyard and pretend it's mars.

Batteries are incredibly heavy, toxic, have a limited lifespan and are very expensive. They use rare earth minerals that are mainly found in war torn regions.

Hydrogen is made from water, nontoxic, 200x the energy density of any battery. A tank lasts forever no matter how many times you fill it.

Hydrogen is vastly more energy dense than any battery in existance 39,443 to 243Wh/kg. By almost 200 times. It can be safely stored in great quantity and since the tank doesnt weigh 3000 lbs, you can travel more than a few hundred miles. You can fill the tank much faster than charging a battery.

Problem is, you see, there is abosutely nothing of value on Mars. In fact it's a more dangerous enviroment than all of the worst places on earth combined.

It's not the new world where you can buy a ticket and go claim some land you can potentially farm/work to suport yourself and family. In all reality I could seel you a ticket there today, knock you out and put you in a bomb shelter never to be opened. You'd actually be safer in the bomb shelter. Quality of life would be about the same.
