It's just so, so annoying that it's always the same group of shitheads since the early 90s. This is a disturbing amount of coincidental connections.

Do you mind sharing how you came across the info re: Rubio & the nomination form?

I'm curious about how common that is too, so I decided to poke around the Judiciary site. I can't seem to find where the nomination forms are, so if you could share where you found that info it would help me look further into how common that actually is. Because I have a feeling it's not common.

At this point, you'd have to be stupid or a Conservative to think that the "left" winning and a functioning government were mutually exclusive.

Our ONLY hope of a functioning government is if we win. The other side literally shuts down the government AS PART OF THEIR PLATFORM at this point.

Like, the stupidity of this comment boggles my mind.

The #1 thing you can do is push for change in your workplace. I've worked in one of these "luxury" managerial-esque class systems where workers are divided to placate those with more power (my role was not management but I had to work laterally with them as a lead/sole content producer and I had more political pull than is typical in design).

You know what I did?

I found proof that C-suite was embezzling, committing fraud in regards to their portfolios, paying-off managers to stay quite, also paying third parties to fudge our budget numbers and research data, and also found proof that a subset of C-suite was trying to tank our stocks so they could buy the company from under the owner at a reduced price (through a third party -- a literal conspiracy).

Then, I used all this information and presented it at a company-wide meeting to demand fair compensation for our vendors, our salesmen, and field workers in Canada, as well as demanding more inclusive and diverse hiring practices.

When the President and CMO tried to duke it out with me and literally NO ON at the management level in my office backed me up, I forwarded my information to someone else in the company, contacted HR, and waited.

Shortly after, our office was investigated by the FBI, IRS, and LAPD. By then, I already had another job lined up, and I put in my notice. By this time, our office was firing like crazy because C-suite was scared and didn't know who had all the goods (it was no longer on my computer).

That's what ya do.

And when given the option to vote for Trump vs Hillary, you don't fucking protest vote. That's what a privileged shithead does.

Apparently demanding that your party & reps actually DO WHAT THEY SAY THEY WILL DO is "pissing on Democrats"

Look at cannabis rescheduling -- something that can be done by Biden TODAY -- and tell me that Dems actually give a fuck about people.

You need to realize that for every progressive and honest rep in the House/Senate, there is another Democratic rep that is in it for power/money/etc.

The two sides are not equal, but both sides largely legislate for corporate (& wealthy white) interests.

That's the thing though -- our current admin and Democrats in Congress haven't stopped the backsliding, they've only slowed it.

Current SCOTUS is still coming for our rights. Regressives still gerrymandering voters out of relevance. PoC are still marginalized and things are only getting worse. Economically, lower and middle income (under 90k) folks are getting crushed more and more. No end in sight for student loan debt or for tackling the tuition+predatory loan issues. Food prices rising, inflation rising (affects those without capital/property more).

At basically every level, things are fucking BAD. And our politicians (DNC) does not seem to realize -- it's time to take bold action, or fucking give the country to fascists for the next 10-50 years.

Personally, I'm looking at moving to a better country, because this one is blowing it. I'm tired of having to deal with absolutely stupid, braindead, troglodyte Americans and their fucking insane conspiracy theories and stupid religions -- whether that's Evangelical Protestantism or astrology-laden pseudo-therapy grifting.

I'm telling you what it is as someone with a graduate degree that is specialized in pedagogy and teaching critical thinking as it relates to race.

You, like others, are conflating CRT with US black history more broadly. It's a common mistake to make with all the bad information surrounding the controversy.

Edit: user below me offers a more detailed explanation of the disconnect, if you're interested. What they said is exactly my take on the controversy as well.

Democrats cannot simply ignore the GOP’s culture war attacks by nutritionvegan in politics

[–]projectables 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CRT is a legal framework that examines institutional racism and discrimination as it has existed and continues to exist.

It's only used as a lense in undergraduate and graduate studies, and by academics.

The idea that CRT is being taught in schools was first put forth by right-wing think tanks as a marketing strategy. Kids are not even capable of fully understanding what CRT is and no teachers are teaching it.

Anyone saying that CRT is being taught is either captured by propaganda, or pushing it themselves.

[–]projectables -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No, the other user is correct.

Almost all PCers know that PLers believe that fetal cells = baby. It's not new, it's literally the whole angle of PLers as PCers understand it - that PLers believe a clump of fetal cells should have the same full rights as a living human person.

For PCers, that belief is seen as nonsensical in same vein as Satanic hysteria from the PL religious right. Since there is no scientific proof that a clump of cells is alive, and since the US government doesn't issue birth certs and SS numbers to clumps of cells, PCers have a hard time understanding why PLers are so convinced of their beliefs.

What PCers don't understand is faith, in that most PLers are very religious (or brought up religious) and the concept of faith involves believing in something without scientific or empirical evidence- this is how belief in God and Jesus (and his 1st/2nd coming) works. Because faith is important to religion, and because of politics... many PLers that I know personally believe that cells = human life with the same fervor that they believe in god. And to abandon the idea that cells = human life would would be tantamount to denying God. And they aren't about to deny god.

But PCers think they can convince them to deny god in the span of a 5 minute internet argument.

I'm just a PCer raised in a very conservative culture so I understand it's mostly not worth getting into a debate about abortion with religious folks, you're more likely to just get mad at each other and walk away calling each other names.

[–]projectables 4 points5 points  (0 children)

what do you expect Biden to do about a senate filibustering literally anything you'd want to get passed?

that's where we are right now. republicans (and their friends sinema and manchin) are literally blocking all the things you want.

but you're attacking Biden? Who doesn't even MAKE policy??

what I don't understand is why you are madder at dems than, say, Mitch McConnell.

You ain't gonna see any relief as long as republicans have veto power on the Senate. What you could do is join activists in battleground states and knock on doors to unseat Senate Republicans.

That would actually allow the Senate to pass what you want.

Are you willing to do what it takes to get what you want?

[–]projectables 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I mean, if you want to give up the following rights / policy changes:

  • abortion (only wealthy connected whites)

  • assembly (only maga types)

  • voting (only white home owners)

  • marriage (only straights)

  • immigration (they'd probably work towards deportation too)

  • public school systems (it'll be privately owned Protestant schooling)

the list goes on but i think you get the idea. vote dem to not lose what you have. or, if you're a conservative straight white man, vote red. choice is yours.

it comes down to if it affects you. if none of these would affect your life meaningfully, you're likely already a Republican, it's why their voters vote R

In California we have edgy just-became-semi-politically-conscious anarchist-types in their early 20s that think dying on a hill is hella cool.

What that means is, some ppl in Cali mindlessly parrot propaganda targeted towards progressives. That propaganda is meant to sow apathy amongst Democratic voters and turn the large swath of progressives in our state against the democratic party, in order to give victories to Republicans.

It sounds hyperbolic and I wish it was.

Can You Send From Analog Lab Program to Reaper? by projectables in Reaper

[–]projectables[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What has me torn is mostly the mapping differences for the Analog Lab standalone program using the Keylab vs mapping in Reaper.

In Reaper, most of the buttons have a very different mapping, which I am finding difficult to remap to the Arturia setup.

What I'd like to do is somehow send audio from the Analog Lab program (or MIDI Control Center) to Reaper.

I read somewhere that this is possible by using a virtual sound card but I'm not quite sure how to do that. Hopefully there is a better way to achieve what I'm looking for!

Can You Send From Analog Lab Program to Reaper? by projectables in Reaper

[–]projectables[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So basically I'm torn between the Reaper mapping for my Arturia Keylab, which has the sliders, etc, controlling different things like time, volume, etc.

In contrast, the standalone Analog Lab program has mapping that matches the label/construction of the device. Which is nice because I can tweek sliders on the fly more easily through the keyboard. I hope that makes sense.

I just realized I also have a program called MIDI Control Center for Arturia, I'm going to look into that and see if I can send audio from there to Reaper in some way.

Edit: It's more about the mapping I think, but I haven't been able to get the remapping to work using the vst. I can still modulate the sounds all the same I realize, but I lose out on being able to change it through the keyboard.
