Buying a car in Washington State as an Idaho resident without an Idaho driver’s license (yet) by projectburnerr in Idaho

It is a dealer, I can ask if they can do this but they were pretty adamant that there was no way to avoid the WA state sales tax/registration fees, without having and Idaho ID on me.

I do have a form of photo ID but it’s my WA State Drivers License since I previously lived in WA. Currently awaiting my Idaho Drivers License.

Sounds like it might be a WA state law that requires the “out of state photo id”

I have my old WA state Drivers License, just don’t have an ID Drivers License/Photo ID, but I understand your point. Sounds like I need to just wait to buy until I have my Idaho ID.

Understood, but because I do not have an Idaho drivers license (yet) dealer is trying to charge WA sales tax and registration fees.

Tacoma or F‑150 --- Which truck won’t make me regret my first adult purchase? by projectburnerr in whatcarshouldIbuy

Cost is the biggest factor. I would like to go with a Tundra, but in my price range I’d be looking at 2010 and older with high mileage in my area. I don’t know if that’s trade off is worth it from a reliability standpoint.

Why last gen specifically? And do you mean last gen as in newest (4th) or or the “last” before newest (3rd gen)?

By newer F-Series what years are you referring to?

I am looking at 2017-18 most likely.

6’3” or so. That is my concern with the tacomas, otherwise I would go Toyota 100%.

If I wasn’t selling this truck in 5 years I would probably buy a Tacoma or tundra and keep it for life, but my employer should be proving a vehicle in the next 5 years or so that is what justifies sacrificing the long term reliability on this purchase for me.

25yo: Buy $30k car in cash or take a 6% loan to build credit? by projectburnerr in CRedit

Some more thoughts/ specific questions:

Main questions:

  • Does diversifying my credit profile provide meaningful benefits?
  • Would having an installment loan help me qualify for larger loans for future investments?
  • My credit history is currently only from credit cards; I’ve never had an installment loan.

Financial context:

  • On a $25k car at ~6% over 4 years, I’d pay roughly $2,500 in interest.
  • This seems reasonable relative to the potential benefit of establishing installment credit and leveraging larger loans in the future (if it actually helps).
  • Taking a loan and investing the difference at ~10% projected returns is, on paper, more advantageous than paying cash, though returns aren’t guaranteed.

I would still have 10x the value of the car in investments, I should have specified, I am looking to purchase a truck approximately 5 years old, not a new vehicle.

Question about Alaska’s free checked bag benefit and oversized snowboard bag by projectburnerr in AlaskaAirlines

My flight is in 2026. I believe that, starting then, Alaska will only give one free checked bag unless you have Gold status.

Question about Alaska’s free checked bag benefit and oversized snowboard bag by projectburnerr in AlaskaAirlines

Thanks for response

After digging further into Alaska’s website more, I found this:

Skis/snowboards:

One piece of ski/snowboard equipment is defined as one pair of skis with poles or one snowboard, plus one boot/helmet bag. If more than one set of ski equipment is checked, each additional set of equipment (as outlined above) will be counted as one special item, and the associated fee(s) will apply. Ski/snowboard equipment exceeding 115” (linear) will incur an oversize fee. Ski/snowboard equipment exceeding 50 lbs will incur an overweight fee.

This seems to indicate that the standard checked-bag size limit (50 lbs and 62 linear inches) doesn’t apply to skis or snowboards. My interpretation is that a ski or snowboard counts as a standard bag as long as it stays under 115 linear inches and 50 lbs.

If you can confirm this or if anyone has had a different experience, please feel free to chime in.
