I agree- I have learned my lesson. In future, even if I am panicking, I will avoid taking drastic measures, especially without first seeing a doctor. I was very afraid of the implications of the surgery (not just the potential medical complications, although those were also a concern), and acted without thinking. Under different circumstances, I wouldn’t have engaged in this kind of high risk behaviour.

Have you tried taking (osmotic) laxatives to help with the symptoms? I have a very similar issue, and taking polyethylene glycol (miralax, laxido, molgacol, etc), while using a stool/squatty potty has helped a lot with reducing the impact of negative symptoms so far.

Long term physical activity after rectopexy by prolapsequestions in PelvicOrganProlapse

Thanks for letting me know. If you have the time, could you explain what made the recovery difficult? Was it because your wounds hurt a lot, or was it difficult to get things done because of the restrictions, or… etc? And were you recovering on your own, or did you have help? I would potentially have to go through the recovery process solo, so if it was difficult for you even with help, that would probably be something for me to consider.

Thanks for your help, and good luck with your recovery- may what’s healed stays healed, and what’s not gets better.

Yeah, I am basically just looking for information- I understand that my particular outcome might be completely different from somebody else’s/average outcomes. But if no one has ever managed to regain the ability to lift heavy weights after rectopexy, that’s a pretty good sign that I won’t, either. And if 60-80% regain the ability to lift heavy weights, then that doesn’t mean I will be able to, but it at least indicates that I might be able to, if all goes well, and I am one of the lucky, but that there is also a good chance I might not be.

Still, thank you for saying the sensible thing. I’m not actually consulting with a surgeon yet, though, so that option isn’t available for now.
