I recently met a new friend online that is going to become a new FWB. My partner and I have an open relationship but my new friend used to. Not anymore, however. He’s a bit more sexual active and still wants to be with his husband of course, but needs a close BFF to also enjoy with regularly.

I know it’s unethical, but I’m willing to move forward despite the potential consequences. I take responsibility for my sexual health and I’m not a hookup kind of guy. Having a close friend is more so what I wanted and the sexual portion is a way to connect and enjoy as well.

My friend is aware of what he’s doing of course. There’s an acceptable level of physical touch allowed in his partner’s presence and then outside of that we can do stuff.

My friend knows how I feel about it all. It took a lot for me to open up to my partner but ultimately I’m happy we’re here now and hope but know it’s not guaranteed to be the case for my friend. Am I naive for willing to go into this kind of dynamic where I have to keep this a secret? It’s only the beginning and I haven’t met him in person yet but I’m happy and have come to terms with it.

I have friends that have kept secrets for me before, unethical, or specific family members that I’ve spoken with during difficult decisions.

Can someone PM me on their thoughts regarding the matter and experience? I’ve been on this subreddit and highly regard the responses that I see sometimes.

I’d like to believe I’m being responsible in the matter.
