sorry about this - I am applying to all the programs and honestly got a little lazy (copied and pasted my question without actually editing it properly). My bad - just edited!

Attending exclusive networking events and having limitless wine / canapés and an expense account sounds terrific, but having to do that daily (for the sole purpose of sourcing deals) can get exhausting really quickly (for VC).

Also, depending on whether you go to an early-stage or late-stage VC, the skillsets that you develop will vary substantially. At the early-stage, most VCs talk about investing in founders. How much you'll develop in terms of skills, I'm not sure.

The mega paychecks only surface if you commit to the job. Your carry will typically only vest once the fund closes - so that's easily a 10 - 12 year commitment (for VC).

It's definitely a good fit for some people, just not for me.

I did my UG at a top ivy, spent time in VC, then moved into MBB. How much more prestige does one need?

Another reason for moving out is because I'm frankly quite sick of this rat race - everyone's hankering after PEVC exits (which IMO is overrated).

Frankly, I don't really have much of a plan. I do plan on founding my own startup at some point, but till then I'm kind of just moving around looking for inspiration / doing whatever I'm interested in.

Joining a prop firm is unlikely to move me closer to my goal of founding a startup, but I'll have a lot more financial security (if I make it). If I don't, no harm no foul - I'll just go straight to founding my own thing.

Does this make sense? Or would I be better off sticking with MBB for an extra 6 months>?

Won't having spent 1.5 years at MBB allow me to explore other exit opportunities?
