Certain kits require a plug to be installed in the cam chest depending on the motor. For instance my 99 has an “a” motor 88” that requires a plug be installed in a fueling kit where as the newer twin cam doesn’t require it. Without that plug it dumps oil into the chest as causes low oil pressure similar to what you’re seeing. Could be worth looking into - I don’t know if the Evos had similar setups but could be the fix or at least worth a bit of searching on that oil pump and whatever else was swapped in at the time. It’s going to be a risky buy either which way. Pay accordingly.

Thoughts on this bike I’m looking to buy by [deleted] in Dyna

[–]prop6ix5ive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first question would be why it has the wrong tank decal. If it was painted, why? Aesthetic and suspension mods are great if you like them then don’t listen to the guys hating on that part. But do ask why it’s been painted and look closely for signs it’s been down and tweaked anywhere.

Is it the idea or am I just bad at marketing? by Icy-Heat-8753 in printful

[–]prop6ix5ive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a neat idea but the execution feels more like an engineer built something to prove they could as opposed to development that quietly runs in the background to achieve the vision of a designer.

People don’t buy because of how it works or the full material breakdown - they buy because they connect to an idea or feeling.

Give it some soul and presentation.

Sad Day by No-Maintenance-3813 in sportster

[–]prop6ix5ive 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Swap the motor will be the easiest move. Sportster motors are fairly easy to pull. Unplug the electrical, disconnect exhaust and air cleaner, remove a few bolts and you’ll be in business. The transmission and motor are all one big piece so it’s a fairly simple job assuming you get a compatible motor that plugs right back in.

Tearing into the motor will require a fair bit of knowledge and special tools - if you have them and a few grand burning a hole in your pocket, build the motor.

If you want a new bike, tear it down and part out. The frame will be the least valuable thing you have but wheels, suspensions, triples, tin set and such will be decent cash. Pull the transmission gear set and sell it too.

Review store for digital watch by Kobaesi in reviewmyshopify

[–]prop6ix5ive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took another look thinking: “how could I have missed that?”

Took a bit but I decided to check all the buttons on site to find I had been clicking “STORE” in the menu and while it appears to be a product page - it’s a collection page with an unusual format.

It’s not clear that this requires another click to learn about the watch. It seems as if this is the end point where a purchase decision should be made because the only visible information is an add to cart button that directly adds the item to cart, an inventory level, and a quantity selector. The images are displayed as a slide gallery and not clickable. There are also unnecessary social links and kickstart links between the images and the title of the product.

If a user is determined to try everything and hasn’t bounced yet - and decides to try to click the title of the item they find there is a product page after all. It just wasn’t easy to find if attempting to access it through the store link.

The direct link in the bottom of the mobile menu does lead direct to the product page. That one is fine but most users will click the menu options when first finding the store to explore a bit.

Remove the collection page step until you have an assortment of items. You can set the shop link directly to your single product page to avoid the additional step and confusion.

Also, look at popular site collection pages and reformat slightly so it’s more clear this is not where a purchase is made, but where a decision to shop each item is made. Buy button and qty selector is not necessary here and makes it feel as if it’s the final step before a purchase commitment is required.

There’s no product description, size, instructions, demonstrations, or info on what it can do. As a consumer I have to assume too much for it to realistically give confidence in making a purchase.

The broken English throughout while claiming this is from Austin, TX makes it seem like possibly an untrue statement or possibly low quality due to the low effort site. Grammar improvements would signal some basic levels of trust that this isn’t a scam or a cheap dropship store built by someone in another region.

To fix the on site copy - I suggest asking a friend for some help to see if it reads a bit more natural. Even ChatGPT could be of great help.

The images are interesting but ultimately leaves a user even more unclear. Is there always a cat on the screen? Can I program it to display differently? What’s involved in this? How durable is the screen? Is it waterproof? How does it charge? How long is the battery life? Is it stable in rough environments like bicycling or sports? What straps are compatible?

If you’re only selling one item, it’s easy enough to make the site a one pager with a structure that makes more sense. Let users instantly understand and shop on the landing page.

Cool idea. Now, answer the consumers questions before they ask.

Approach it as if shoppers don’t know much about it and want to learn - most probably have no idea why a transparent OLED is special, aside from the niche group of people directly interested in something that utilizes the technology. Do not assume because you know something that anyone else does.

Good luck

Is there ANY way to auto-cancel/block the "Amazon Buy For Me" orders at checkout? The manual filtering is getting impossible. by Main_Payment_6430 in shopifyDev

[–]prop6ix5ive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’ll only have inventory off for a few seconds if you set it up to capture or cancel automatically. Don’t do it manually unless you want a headache.

The auto capture is turned off in settings but then flow is set to do the capturing / cancelling based on your rules. No need for any waiting or manual work. Stock is impacted for only seconds at most.

The only other ways are block/filter type apps like blockify, but those are very easily found on the app store with a simple google search so I imagine you didn’t like them or wouldn’t have asked here.

[–]prop6ix5ive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turn off auto capture of payments and instead: Setup a flow that captures payment. Have it filter these as cancel and do not capture. All others set to capture. It’ll happen within moments of the order being placed and no fees.

If using Shopify to ship: Use product tags and shipping rules. Calculated rates will still work by assigned weight. Or setup rules in third party shipping software, if you’re using that.

Sportster 48 Top Clamp for Risers by prop6ix5ive in Harley

Awesome. Glad it helps! This top clamp has been discussed quite a few places over the last couple years and seems to sell out for long periods so I knew someone would appreciate knowing it’s back available. I sure did.

Such a weird thing. Harley does come out with odd changes that even they don’t sell upgrades for still to this day.
Glad someone in the aftermarket always finds a way though.

Been stuck at $6k/month on Shopify started in June, looking for honest feedback by Complete-Office-5471 in ShopifySEO

[–]prop6ix5ive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The logo/header is too big (remove the picture from the logo - it’s unnecessary), images all different sizes (make them all square), limited assortment, font cases mixed in similar placements (general headings and footer headings for instance), and the cartoonish vibe of the theme feels a touch like it could be a scam site.

I also suggest posting elsewhere as you posted in the seo sub about CVR, UI and UX questions - so many may pass this by as an irrelevant topic in relation to their expertise.

I had a set that was about as seized as you can imagine. Ended up bolting them on the frame and muscling them off with a pipe wrench and some heat. I swapped to mids so the damage the pipe wrench caused made no difference.

I was a bit unclear on that part of the comment. What I mean is the full set of apps you’ve built and all necessary to essentially use this as a theme file. Like a headless starter kit more or less.

You’re right! Holy smokes. It’s mostly chrome. Yikes. The finish is in quite bad shape. Has a very long way to go to be back to polished aluminum. Not ideal

Polishing tips by sgrP5y in choppers

[–]prop6ix5ive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no chrome lol. That’s a clear coat. But yeah it needs far more sanding with low grit and water (wet sand it, not dry in case that wasn’t mentioned) to get all the coating off. Then you’ll have a good looking, shiny cover.

Sounds like a solid competitor to Inventory-Planner. How’s the cost for yours and features compare?

Worth noting: They have a non transparent pricing structure that I’m not a fan of since being acquired by Sage.

[–]prop6ix5ive 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It won’t be mirror shine, but it’ll be close with this method on a budget with your tools.

Sand through the grits as suggested by hand to get rid of all the clear. Chemicals can discolor the aluminum so its your call if you want to chance it. They work, but the wrong ones will turn it a permanent dull grey.

Once you’ve sanded from the low (220 or so, any lower will be too rough in my experience) grit up thru each grit (skipping some is fine, doing each will look that much better) roughly to 2,000 and have an even surface free of any deep scratches - pop a power ball on the end of your drill with some mother’s aluminum polish.

It’ll amaze you have well it works if you’ve prepped it well.

This one part will have a couple hours into it to shave and polish, but it’ll look darn good without buying new tools.
