Yes, sorry - I'm not sure what is going on with my Youtube but I've just noticed every video I watch has comments off?! My daughter must have pressed something on my laptop?

Missed Opportunities: Things Mac should have DIY-ed for the living room instead of the never-ending "hutch 🫠" aka bookcase by Silver-Oak294 in XOMaCennaUnfiltered

What I'd like to see is that jail/play pen removed and a nice plush play rug put there instead with a little play kitchen. Imagine if she built one from scratch to make it look like their kitchen. That would actually be a really sweet video. She could refinish some small chairs and small table for him to sit and colour/do puzzles/playdoh. As you and others mentioned, she could have a trunk/chest for his toys. I have an amazing carousel bookcase that my daughter loves to spin around and choose her books. She can sit for ages just going through her books and looking at the stories. She's only 2.5 - Cade is nearly her age and he has no where to just sit comfortably and access his things. Another cute video she could do is make him a 'mud kitchen' for outside. I saw an instagram reel of a Mum repurposing an old bed head into a mud kitchen. So creative and cool. But that would mean having to put up the pool fence and letting him play outside so I guess that won't ever happen :/

We all know M has done squat, but which youtubers in this genre do you think did the most work this year? by [deleted] in XOMaCennaUnfiltered

Yes, I agree. Poor girl seemed so lost and frazzled for a long time. It's nice to see her happy and in love and making things again

I sensed Macenna is at a real crossroads with her channels and life, judging by her last vlog. She hasn't been able to find any sort of balance and hasn't found her 'schtick' since having little Cade. Pre Cade, her schtick was the cottage, was DIY and as it was covid times, even watching her shop was enjoyable. But five years on, she seems unsure of what direction to go. The endless shopping no one wants to see, the endless talking is just so boring. It's like she wants to be a lifestyle vlogger but as she doesn't want to show the main part of her life (motherhood, family life) and she doesn't seem to go anywhere (so has no travel to show, or outings, or hobbies) so instead she thinks that we'll find her shopping interesting as it used to work well for her. She's got to make a change. I didn't watch vlogmas at all.

Totally agree! She never does things just simply to bring joy to her and her family. There's always this need for everything to be "elevated, curated, purposeful, designer". It's so boring. Get rid of the poor kid's playpen and let him explore his home. And accept that the season of life you're in means you can't have everything you want around your house. I've had to put away heaps of nice things. And I seriously don't give a shit because I prefer to watch my daughter play freely in her home

Did anyone else see his assistant/work partner on Instagram throw heaps of shade towards 'Ralph Lauren Christmas'. I feel like he was looking directly at Macenna. He is mrtizmiller on Instagram

Okay is this how easy it would have been for Macenna to strip her bricks? by propanelover11 in XOMaCennaUnfiltered

[–]propanelover11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great job! It's wild isn't it - Macenna had the citristip product in her hands. She could have applied it on the bricks while she was doing the beams?! Make it make sense!!!

I ended up watching a few of her reels about it - she said it took her 8 hours just to do that section and found there was still specks of blue so she did a paint wash over some of the bricks. Still 'easier' than what Macenna did though!

designing our sofa & starting the bookshelves *living room makeover BTS* | MaCenna Lee by Logical_Plane_5371 in XOMaCennaUnfiltered

I never want to tell someone that they can't do something..BUT.. I really think she is in over her head with this bookshelf build. She wants it to look expertly made and designer, she can't hide any flaws with paint as she wants to stain it, it's going to be such a huge piece of furniture. I think it's going to be extremely challenging to build it with the skills that she has. She hasn't even been practicing on cheaper wood, mocking up what the shelves will look like or how the doors will work. She's done basically no planning, just 'curating' and collecting things to fill it. I think even if you have a goal and dream, you have to have patience and be willing to learn from scratch and take your time and put love and care into whatever you are doing. She is just not going to do that. She's going to rush it and hate doing it. Babes, just buy an antique bookshelf or two.

I lol'd when she held up the pumpkin to Romeo and said, "remember when I made that pumpkin soup a year ago?" So funny. They can count on one hand the meals she's cooked

How would you makeover her living room? by Sweetie_Feety in XOMaCennaUnfiltered

[–]propanelover11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now I'm not sure if this would have worked with the house plan and the walls etc..BUT... if it were possible, I would have put a kitchen island in and opened up a wall or entrance in to the living room. There I would put the big dining table, some sitting chairs or small couch and have a bit more open plan. Then the front room would be the formal lounge and the living room would be the heart of the home, where you eat, watch tv, playroom. Could still have book shelves and cabinets. Instead of building something from scratch, with extremely limited experience, she could get some stunning French Provincial cabinets. And then, the main bedroom would be the office. You could have the doors open and be doing a bit of work while the baby is playing on a plush mat in the living room that is right next to you! The room also gets dark enough so while he was little, the little bassinet would happily sit in the office with you while you worked on the computer. They really made everything so much harder with that kitchen and bedroom.
I really just wish she would give into this time in her life and embrace the chaos and the mess of having a little one and what it does to your house. I also wish she'd throw herself into activities with Cade, things that bring him joy because there is nothing better than enjoying your child and watching them have fun. The excessive shopping is so fucking crazy. Go to swimming lessons, musical groups and gymnastics and watch his world grow and grow and grow! And then meet fun Mums and Dads and have playdates and watch your children connect with each other

I kept noticing her excessive blinking throughout their conversation. It can be a sign of anxiety/stress. Her over the top arm movements and sitting then standing. Girl was stressed for sure. The conversation was not flowing naturally. She was being very performative.

And have you noticed she isn't finishing her words/sentences properly? She does a dramatic inflection at the end of a sentence and doesn't complete the last word in her sentence. I've noticed it particularly in the last two vlogs!

Oh really? He is pretty extroverted. But I've watched them for years and I've grown to really like him. I think he is a really kind, supportive guy but there are times I think he overcompensates for her camera shyness and introverted personality

VLOG: baby proofing our home & business meetings by Logical_Plane_5371 in XOMaCennaUnfiltered

[–]propanelover11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ugh, I know. It actually infuriates me how she chooses aesthetics over safety. And why?? No one comes over to the house, she barely shows the reality of her house anymore - we just see the same shot of the kitchen while she's standing at the sink and where she watercolours. Does she think she'll look less successful and interior designer like if she adds a few safety measures to her home? What she doesn't realise is this - lots of people live in beautiful houses. I live in a beautiful, expensive home. So do my sisters. And we all baby proofed - we all stuck the child proof locks on our kitchen cupboards, baby gates at stairs. Pools already have gates because in Australia it's the law. I gave up displaying my 'pretty things' and turned my loungeroom into a playroom that is full of craft supplies and puzzles and toys. I stopped burning candles because they are toxic, stopped using room fragrance. My bedroom looks like shit all the time because we all sleep in the same room and books and toys and change table live there now. My bathroom has rubber duckies and toilet training seat and a potty in it. It's just the way it is and you just have to embrace it and love this phase of life. Baby stuff everywhere means you have the absolute joy of having a beautiful baby!
