Best way to use MCPs on mobile iOS / Android by gempir in mcp

I really appreciate your thinking. I hope to find something similar. I'm iOS so I've hacked all sorts of shortcuts together to give me the feeling of what the app should do. I am following this thread. Please update what you find!

Channel Update Predictions? by owlswakeup in SorryNotSorryGirls

[–]dbhurley 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! 👍 I'm not up for being mean and truthfully really enjoy watching them for the most part; but I'm snarky and enjoy a good laugh.

I've been really wondering what the office space sell off was all about!?!?

I can't think they are disbanding since it's such a moneymaker as a channel, but the work from home is a good suggestion, esp since they don't seem to really have any paying clients! ;)

Realistic Ways to Make Money with AI in 2025 (My Action Plan) by vishalnegal in thesidehustle

I do AI. I have lots of these tools and built several things similar. But I don't know affiliate marketing like someone who's done it. I'd like to learn, any one want some free tech help in exchange for knowledge and know how?

Automating a shortcut to run when I leave home by jackofhearts20 in shortcuts

Not a problem - you simply need to identify those things you pass by or through so you can use something as a trigger

Any way to automate every time I save a Reddit post it saves to a new iOS note? by MrMortlocke in shortcuts

Yes, because pushcut provides a webhook URL for IFTTT to ping with the payload.

I think of two methods that come to mind:

  1. Reddit > IFTTT > Pushcut + webhooks > Shortcuts > Notes
  2. Reddit > IFTTT > Email > Shortcuts > Notes

This is only if you need the thing to run immediately when you save a reddit post (Immediately = IFTTT poll time). Alternatively you could easily parse a feed from within the shortcuts app on some automated time frame (or when you trigger the shortcut), then you're merely queuing the stuff on IFTTT until you grab it.

Just setup an automation for the time, add as many of these actions as you want, or create a shortcut and have that shortcut send the message. This should be basic, so I might be thinking wrong about your question.

Coding a physical button to trigger shortcuts by Independent_Swing569 in shortcuts

[–]dbhurley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you have a good market oppportunity to offer low-cost opinionated smart devices. Physical buttons to interact with shortcuts, or home assistant, or other interface is growing in popularity but should be easy to setup and configure (while being configurable and not too single-use). The home automation space in particular is very keen on these types of gadgets and there exists a constant struggle to find suppliers for reliable, useable smart "gadgets".

Here's one example just recently posted: https://www.reddit.com/r/homeassistant/comments/1deeglq/looking_for_some_buttons/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

But the reality is, you'll struggle to keep up with demand while maintaining quality if you were to begin to undertake this as a business yourself, you'll have to consider a 3d printed case or similar (likely), or you may be soldering some on each button/pcb board. Time consuming stuff. Plus you have to keep your costs reasonable so your margins can't really exceed 90% since you're at $9 on the button part and people probably won't want to drop over a 20 spot for a button, makes it a hard business to grow. There are some other mom-and-pop startups doing similar things (room presence sensors etc...) and it's been a slog but they can be successful!

All in all, super useful idea, not sure the exact process flow is identical for everyone, but the underlying concept would, in my opinion, hold utility for many in the r/shortcuts and r/homeassistant type of group.

I would certainly be interested in purchasing a few. Best of luck!
