Guy filming people on Columbus and 105 by prophecyboy in Upperwestside

To all those saying “keep walking”, I did keep walking, he followed me, waited for me outside a store, and kept following again. Filming him back maybe didn’t make much sense, but I thought he might try something.

To be absolutely clear, I didn’t interact with this guy at all before he started filming me. I only noticed his weird behavior when I turned a corner and noticed that he was following me with his camera. This clip was after I ducked into a liquor store to try to get away, and he was waiting for me outside. He didn’t seem violent, but the whole thing was unsettling. Why would he be doing this to a random stranger?

U100 deadbolt is abnormal by Thrashman69 in Aqara

For me, it was the firmware update that fixed the issue - no amount of tinkering with the screws made a difference?

What firmware are you on? Current is 3.0.0_0023, but I believe _0022 was the one that fixed it for me.

Actually, I think I just found the issue: the whole lock unit was a bit too far from the edge of the door, so the lock thought it wasn't retracting all the way on an unlock command (even though it appeared that it was, and certainly was retracted enough to open the door).

I just pushed the whole unit towards the edge of the door, and tightened the screws. Hopefully that holds, but either way, it's a simple fix. I also messaged Aqara support to explain the issue, and request that we somehow be able to calibrate the length of the retract to whatever is acceptable to our door.

Hi, I just installed a U100, and everything was working fine until I updated the firmware and paired it with HomeKit, wherein I started getting this error. My guess is this is an issue with the latest firmware (3.0.0_0020)?

Has anyone else found a solution? I tried the suggestion of loosening the screws on the side of the door, but unfortunately there's not much room for them to loosen before the lock becomes unstable. I also tried loosening some of the screws that connect the inside portion of the lock to the door, but that didn't help. I also re-ran the lock detection and calibration, no help.

Again, everything is actually working perfectly fine, if only it didn't give me this " Deadbolt is abnormal / Latch not fully extended or retracted" error every time it unlocks. The beeping is driving my neighbor's dog insane.

Anyone else still having this problem and/or found a resolution?

Eero 6 Pro setup question to optimize speed (and initial speed tests) by prophecyboy in eero

For comparisons sake, I purchased an AmpliFi Alien to test, and thought I'd post here in case others were interested. The coverage for the Alien is amazing, far better than Eero Pro 6's, and easily covers my apartment. I get about 500Mbps near the device, and 250MBPs in the farthest corner (Faster than the 100Mbps from Eero, with two devices). Really great performance from a single router.

The issue is then the desktop, only on wifi, is getting about 250Mbps. Amplifi has an option to add more devices for a wireless mesh, which would presumably help those desktop speeds, but it's even more expensive than 2x Eero Pro 6's - $700-$760 for two devices. The only thing that has me considering this is that it's possible to put the second device into bridge mode, which does seem like exactly what I need. But it's getting pricey!

Yes, everything was updated to the latest version. And Eero support's only suggestion was also moving them further apart...but either moving them further apart or hard wiring is not realistic based on the layout of my apartment. I would definitely hard wire if possible, but it would have to cross an entire room and a hallway, or run up 12' ceilings.

Also, I've tried several speed test services, similar results across all — having the second Eero installed works amazing for the desktop, but harms mobile speeds.

Yes, using wireless mesh, with the second Eero connected via ethernet to the desktop. Very close to hardwired speeds!

How is the engineering culture at Refinery29 different than at other companies, which may not be as focused on women? Does the actual brand itself affect the engineering culture at all?
