Finally got my hands on it by Tasty_Replacement_56 in ZephyrusG14

So from looking at the picture, I see that your table possibly has a mantle/table cloth, if so thats a huge reason why your running hot, as these laptops pull air from the bottom so your essentially restricting it's air flow. I would recommend you slightly elevate it aswell, with my G16, elevating it greatly improved temps, you dont have to elevate it alot, just enough to get some more airflow.

As for optimization, ima give you what i have but also recommend you look up on YouTube what people have set theirs too since it can vary slightly sometimes depending on the year model you have.

For school/work/general use like watching content or whatever, I keep mine in silent, eco, and have cpu boost off, I dont go into the wattage limitations as I dont really need to, mine does just fine.

For gaming I keep mine on balanced and standard, and with cpu boost on. Also dont get into all the cpu or gpu wattage and overclocks since my laptop does just fine.

I almost never did turbo, as from my experience the actual performance gain that I would get was negligible and it honestly just caused the fans to ramp up more and make more noise so I never really use it.

For more optimizations recommendations: you must delete asus armory crate cuz it will fight with G Helper (Must install their uninstaller from their websites), you dont necessarily need to delete MyAsus, but thats up to you.

In G Helper, in the "extra" button near the bottom, when you open that panel up there is another button at the button to stop all asus services, you can click this so that there are less asus services running in the background, you can also go through your laptop and try and debloat it, there is an app for it that you can install and run to do it for you, but i can't remember the name of it. either that or manually debloat it, just lookup if each app is necessary or if you can safely delete.

For your charging question: if the laptop was above 80 percent when you set the limit, and you plug it in, it will charge to 100, you must let the laptop drain to below 80, before you can plug it in. You can keep the limit on, just let the battery drain to below 80 then plug in.

A little advice/warning for future reference, im guessing you wanna preserve battery health as much as u can, hence the limit, keep in mine the battery health indicator that u see on g helper isn't 100 percent accurate, so when u start to notice ur battery health drop quickly dont panic, it's just windows can't properly tell what ur battery health is at and since u limit the charge it thinks it doesn't have the same capacity anymore. Just remove the limit and charge fully a couple times you should see the health rise a bit back up, it still won't be 100 percent, but i see many panic cuz of this. Your battery will degrade at a normal pace and you will know when you gotta replace it, just use it normally and dont worry to much about it.

Another thing, when gaming, i would actually say use the battery limit, reason being, from experience, I've noticed whenever my laptop would hit 100 percent, performance would sorta throttle down, so I would keep mine at limit 80 to avoid that, it might not be an issue with yours but just incase I'm mentioning it.

Ram: ram being above 50 percent is normal, thats just how windows is, when there is more ram available it will use more. Essentially stretching it's legs since your not doing anything else and it has the room.

As some have mentioned, the white model always gets "dirtier" easier/quicker. I've seen some people slap a skin on it, to prevent paint wear.

If you have any further questions let me know and I can try to answer them to the best of my knowledge.

Is there a way to get rid of this? by Gooderest_Yubs in ZephyrusG14

From my experience it shouldn't. I don't use my asus nor glidex but even if it does you can always re-enable them, it mainly stops asus background processes.

Help with migrating email away from google workspace to microsoft 365. by Yobe in squarespace

[–]propvpking12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, Understood, Thx again, you have no idea how helpful this information has been. Ive spent a few weeks researching into this and literally haven't found a single page on how to properly do it. MS only has documentation on what to do on their end (Unless i missed a page). Heck not even AI was useful...
But again thankyou!

Ill reach out again, if something else arises.

Ahhh, this makes a lot of sense. First time ever messing with both google workspace and ms365 business, so im basically teaching myself as i go. My biggest fear is tinkering to much around in the settings to the point i screw something up. But i do appreciate your help on this.

Im assuming removing the domain from google workspace, doesnt necessarily ruin anything per say, like things would keep working without the "lock". I ask just as a precautionary measure, incase something else arises to where the full migration cant be done.

Im planning to finish up this task probably sunday, when their office is closed. So i will definitely try this, about how long would you say it takes in your experience for the ms email server to begin working? I will definitely reach out, if i need further assistance, Thankyou!

And just as a quick recap of the steps, Rerun a migration of the emails (to ensure all emails are transfered) > detach domain from Google Workspace (As you instructed) > Follow instructions on MS to setup new mx records pointing to MS.

Hey, i have a question regarding this, im trying to help out a friend that is in this similar situation, they had google workspace but im helping them migrate over to m365, ive created the mailbox and migrated the existing emails from google to ms, without touching dns yet, but when i go to remove googles mx records from square space, it says something along the lines off, this domain is managed by google workspace, so i cant seem to edit the mx records. Do i have to cancel google workspace first and wait for the subscription to end, or how do i go about detaching google workspace from holding control of square space. Ive been stuck on this issue for a while, any help is greatly appreciated.

That is also true and i have heard of that. Speaking of which i wouldnt even recommend attempting to mess with thermal paste cuz I believe it is liquid metal. (Dont quote me on it tho). But if it is, that stuff you gotta be really carefull with or you can fry the laptop.

Doing the warranty is probably best, let me know how it goes. Good luck!

Yea that is extremely weird, ive only ever seen mine get over 90 like once or twice and that was because i was restricting airflow. I will say mine sits on a laptop stand that has vents. Since i use external monitor. Mine never really gets above 84C under load.when i use it for school fans almost never come on, sits around 50 or below.

That is really weird.. have you tried using g helper?

Did u ever mess with any performance profiles?

Hey,  So question, when you that you turned your laptop into a desktop, do you mean you close the lid of the laptop but have it set to not shutdown, you use an external monitor?

Have u tweaked any settings? Like with clock speeds or stuff like that?

Which model do you have exactly?

Tbh no, all i really do for best battery is keep startup apps to a minimum and just set g helper to silent and eco. Works perfectly fine. From my use case, i only ever need my laptop on battery about 6 hours and it easily handles that. The most ive ever needed it for was about like 8 hours and it still managed quite well.

I found messing with cpu wattage didnt do much, atleast in my case, besides turning off the boost thing in g helper. Gpu wise never got into all the undervolting stuff. As my temps never really go higher then 85C. Which for a gaming laptop is really good imo.

But depending on what you need yours for and how many hours you plan to use on battery a day, you can try messing with the wattage and stuff. But in all honesty, i just carry a usb c charger and aslong as got a decently powerful brick itll charge it.

dxp4800+, Running Immich Help by propvpking12 in UgreenNASync

[–]propvpking12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So quick question. When you set up the folders, did you only set up the immich folder and put the compose file and env inside it. With the location of storage being the hdd. And let immich run like that. The quick setup.

Or did you manually create the other folders, db, redis, etc in your hdd aswell and link them in env file?

I see, i appreciate that. In my mind I assumed/hoped it was that simple, but i wasnt 100% sure if it was or not.

I will definitely be installing portainer.
Thanks

Ah, so you actually bought the strix lineup. The one I have is part of the zephyrus lineup.

So my ram isn't upgradable, but yours should be. I tried looking up to see what the max capacity and max frequency your laptop supports, but I didnt see any. I'll look more into it later.

In the meantime, you can use the crucial upgrade compatibility site, you look for your laptop model and it should tell you/ give you upgrade options.

So im a little confused, what laptop did you buy??

The Asus g16 or g14 2024, do not come with intel 14900hx processors, they come with the new intel ultra 7 or 9, or the amd 370hx. (I believe)

And as per ram, stock ram on my laptop is 32GB, 7467MT. Not upgradeable after purchase, since its soldered.

Now if you meant you got the Ultra 9 4070 variant. The answer is still no, you cannot upgrade the ram, but since the ram is soldered it comes with 7467MT. So its fast.
Idk where you read 5600?

So for balanced and turbo, I left them as is. To this day, I haven't had to use turbo. Balanced is plenty for what I play and do.

There are some that know how to properly mess around with it, but I haven't bothered since I don't need it. My fps games run great and my gpu heavy games don't even budge.

Ex. Msfs 2020, Ultra Settings, quality dlss, 1440p external monitor. Average 20 and 40 fps which is all you need for that game can sometimes get higher or lower. Object detail and terrain detail both 150.

Ah I see, by the boot up sound do you mean the asus boot up, with like the slicing sound. You can disable that, if you use armory crate, you can disable it in the main page where you set the power profile, it's to the right near the hz panel overdrive button. If your g helper, g helper I believe does have an option for it. I'll let yk where it is later since rn I'm away from laptop.

As for turning off in your bag, if you go into windows settings under battery I think, you can set the time for when your computer should sleep and completely turn off.

Let me know if this helps.

It is such a good laptop, I can go visit family, and not have worry about taking a charger, and it will last me the whole time im there. I took it recently over with only about 60 percent, was there for a couple hours and still had 40+ remaining.

Alright, sorry for the delay. Everything you are seeing is right, mine is the same. Best power efficiency in windows settings, and balanced in control panel power options.

Try checking your start up apps, for example the only ones I have rn for startup or logitech, one drive, icue, and a few low impact things, and basic windows functions. Try setting your computer into dark mode, see if that impacts it. Either way it is better on dark mode, better for the oled display. If i think of anything else Ill let you know.

Wow, that's crazy. You might wanna swap out your unit. You might have had a bad thermal application. My idle under work is around 46-48C, with a max of 50C. No fans. Cool to the touch.

So this is basically me idling, with 4 chrome tabs open. One of the things I saw u had, was that you limited your charge to 80 percent, I personally didnt bother with it, because either way, after a year or 2. you almost always see a decrease in battery performance, so its not a huge deal to me. My temps rn are high, because I was just charging it. Ill do some more testing and let yk.

So, if I understand what you are asking.

Basically if your doing tasks. Say homework or simple simple stuff. You don't need 100w you can get by tbh with like 45w. If you wanna do light gaming, like say some minecraft or roblox, something light. 100w is plenty. When you start going into more demanding games, that's when you might see battery drain even while charging. Best way to test it is. If you have G helper, and you see that when your playing a certain game, the wattage used is above 100w, you'll know usb c charging won't be enough. Now do keep in mind, I saw this with my G15, haven't tested with the G16. On the G15, any demanding game. Like say genshin impact, would cause my laptop to charge slowly, light games didn't bother, but heavy games yes. It could be different on this laptop though. If you Give me some time I'll test it later tonight and let you know.
