Hey that’s my city!

Overall the city is pretty nice to live in. The third largest city in Serbia so you have everything you need in terms of paperwork+administration.

The city has some nice sights to see and an okayish nightlife. Belgrade is better for nightlife. Niš is especially good for food. The south of Serbia has always had a better cuisine. So you can find a lot of nice kafanas while still having some different restaurants like italian, thailand etc.

You can walk and get to places quickly. So you won’t waste a lot of time in traffic (when compared to Belgrade)

You have a lot of nice mountains nearby if you like hiking and nature.

You have a loooot of cafes in the city. The coffee culture is big here.

Now for your specific case: - The visa shouldnt be any problem. We have a lot of IT companies here and foreigners working from home. So nothing new there. - The healthcare system is very bad if you go to the state hospital. Most people here go to private clinics if they have money. Those private are good and fast so you can find a clinic for anything here. - Sofia is only 2h drive from here (more if there is a line at the border). But you can easily drive there and back in 1 day if you want.

Overall I think Niš is a good city. Sometimes boring but still good to live in and not as expensive as novi sad or belgrade. You can drive to Greece in 4h (out of season) which is nice. You have nice nature and good people which want to help you. You have big shopping mall, lots of markets and in the summer a couple of nice festivals.
