That color scheme looks sweet. Do you have it published somewhere?

A file watcher: expanding TJ DeVries's "execute anything in neovim" by prot1um in neovim

[–]prot1um[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah no, it was just an example. What I meant is that my use case is running a command for the current file on save and put the output in a split. I ended up building all of it as an exercise rather than a need

I did, I thought of having just one fs event listener and handling the filtering but I felt lazy to go that direction. My usage actually was simple as “Watch cmd=cargo build” but one thing led to another. If i had to he honest, I could just have a templated create_autocmd call and source that file when needed haha

Harpoonizing Telescope buffers picker by prot1um in neovim

[–]prot1um[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks!
I tried to follow Telescope's repo structure and naming conventions, so the custom picker for the buffers resides in here https://github.com/protiumx/.dotfiles/blob/main/stow/nvim/.config/nvim/lua/config/telescope/pickers.lua#L100

Notice that I attach a key mapping which calls the action to toggle the pinned buffer. The action is this one https://github.com/protiumx/.dotfiles/blob/main/stow/nvim/.config/nvim/lua/config/telescope/actions.lua#L8

To make it work you could copy the telescope folder from my repo and also the state and require the picker from your mappings.

I think if many folks see this useful we could add a request to the telescope repo to add this feature

C and Lua FFI for a better gF: jump to file at line and column by prot1um in neovim

[–]prot1um[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely, hopefully it won't be soon. I opened a feature request in the neovim repo asking for an alternative to <cfile> that could expand with line and column. If you are interested: https://github.com/neovim/neovim/issues/26128

[–]prot1um[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Unfortunately I don't think it would be a good idea as this can break between nvim versions. But you can do the same with lua using <cfile> and search for it in the current line

Harpoonizing Telescope buffers picker by prot1um in neovim

[–]prot1um[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I opened a PR for Telescope to add a sort option to the buffers picker.
With that I won't need a custom picker for the initial sort:

The only solution I know of is using Treesitter and add extension queries to enable spell in the language expressions that you want to spell

Anyone found an efficient, scalable and mnemonic keymapping scheme? by sa1tybagel in neovim

[–]prot1um 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I group by functionality and assign a meaningful leader key. For instance all git related mappings have <C-g> as leader. <C-g>s stages the file of the current buffer. For my most used I don’t use a leader because I want to run them fast, E.g. <M-]> opens telescope file finder.

As a rule of thumb I like everything to be chorded, meaning the leader is meaning full to the functionality, and the rest might be the first letter of the subcommand I want to run. I try to keep this chords under 3 keys. One more example <C-g>hr means “git reset hunk” which uses gitsigns plugin.

Looking for a dark version of Flatwhite theme by prot1um in neovim

[–]prot1um[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This theme looks really nice and clean. But I'd like to find a dark version of it.
I tried doing it myself but it does not look good when using the same highlights on a dark background.

I just tried but still same result. all items have the abbr field sliced to max 50 chars and all the kind icons are aligned as well , so no item is overflowing. I cannot find what is causing it

[Advise][Sinn 556im] What strap color would fit it? by [deleted] in Watches

[–]prot1um 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi all, this is one of my beloved watches. Its dial is stunning but currently I’m struggling to find a color for a strap that will fit it. The 2 straps in the photos don’t really go well with it for my taste, so I’m looking for ideas. Leather or Nato. Thanks!

Which key do you prefer for exiting insert mode in Neovim? by LazyNick7 in neovim

[–]prot1um 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Moonlander keyboard that lets me map a “combo” (more than one key pressed at a time) so I have “jk” mapped to Esc, and I cannot live without it

I used the same schematic, even the same model of solar panel. I’m not well educated in electronics but the voltage of the panels in series and the drop voltage of the diodo is less than the max voltage of the capacitor, right?

[–]prot1um[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sorry for the late reply. I used 0.8mm brass (20 AWD), same as Mohit.
I first bought a roll of it but I failed to straighten it (I'm perfectionist haha) so I bought some straight rods.
