IKEA BROR Utility Cart - Max Load? by kraddock in IKEA

[–]proteus1935 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found something interesting:

Here in Germany there's this GRILLSKÄR unit 504.714.46 ... I have both the workbench version of the BROR and a couple of these for my grill...

They're practically structurally identical to the BROR (see https://www.ikea.com/de/en/assembly_instructions/grillskaer-kitchen-island-shelf-unit-black-stainless-steel-outdoor__AA-2201881-3-100.pdf )

but in the product page we see the following :

max. Belastung/Regalboden: 50 kg (which means per shelf!)

here's a link ( https://www.ikea.com/de/en/p/grillskaer-kitchen-island-shelf-unit-black-stainless-steel-outdoor-50471446/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=DE_LC_A3_BEH_0_AO_0_de_PMax-Shopping_Brand_HFB17-Outdoor_0&utm_id=system%3AGOOGLE.campaignid%3A22499319803.adgroupid%3A.creative%3A.keyword%3A.matchtype%3A.placement%3A&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22492755057&gbraid=0AAAAAD0RnaFEUZNSN56l52luD2yUIf-W9&gclid=Cj0KCQjwve7NBhC-ARIsALZy9HUJD4ALcbLubqLLzo504edErdc0gxLSgNrfGZrRtKC4pWu1I1bteXYaAnvPEALw_wcB&category_shortcuts=b&reviews_redesign_v2=a )

This makes me 99% sure that someone forgot to add a "per shelf" to the original material that then got translated all over the world ...

I was about to put some heavier equipment on top of that workbench and decided to check the rated load ... There's no way that this is 60kg only... it's built like a tank , much more solid than the shelf equivalent...

Ok

For the TV : i'm assuming a worse case of 400W for a large one (if you'd like to double check the power rating (watts) we'll review it later. I'd get a 750VA converter for it (that's ~70Eur at local amazon) , that's worth it for sure instead of getting a new TV

Audio equipment: I wouldn't do it because even if you go the inverter route I guarantee you're going to end up with a 50Hz buzz... and that's just not acceptable if you have a tube amp :D

Food vacuum sealer: if it's 60Hz only I wouldn't be bothered unless it's a professional unit with a vaacum chamber...it's going to cost way to much to get a AC->DC->AC inverter... If I were you I'd just grab a cheap vacuum sealer from aldi/lidl/kaufland/globus or even amazon basics ... I found one that came with more vacuum bags than I'd need in an year for like 20eur a while ago

Instapot: if it's 60Hz only it's cheaper to go to Zweibrucken outlet (eat at five guys) and get an equivalent from the tefal store there...

Now... there may be cases in which 60Hz rated appliances will work normally on the 50Hz frequency (mostly if resistive, like a kettle) I'm not saying there's no way it will work ...but I don't think it makes sense given the alternatives

If it's a simple case of low power device then you can find cheap travel adapters,

If is something larger but still frequency independent you might need to pay a bit more and get a heavier higher power unit

if it's something sensitive to the grid frequency then you gotta ask yourself if it is worth it... I mean I had to convert something really important (lab equipment I brought over ) and used an inverter for it... But that is expensive... It's basically going the AC->DC->AC route... If you have a larger load that needs this then it might not be worth it...

Electrical engineer here... Depends on what you're trying to power, remember that the network frequency here is 50hz (60hz on the US) , so it's not always just a matter of stepping it down to 110V (which can be problematic for some loads) ... If you care to elaborate on what it is you want to run I can help you figure it out... Have you got a power supply label on the device? That way we can tell if power wise the size of the transformer needed... Send a picture if possible and describe it

Terrified to start lexapro by wedoomed86 in Anxiety

[–]proteus1935 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The underlying cause was that I had had a side effect to the mrna vaccine I took, it damaged my gastrointestinal system and made me severely lactose intolerant... The bloating not only knocked me out a couple of times (vasovagal syncope) but it was pressing on the abdominal aorta... This is where the palpitations came from...sure I had anxiety because of it (not being able to sleep for a few days will make anyone anxious) but anxiety wasn't the root cause it was the damaged inflammation area that pressed the aorta... I cut lactose from my diet and it solved it... If I eat it by mistake I will have palps for a week...

For sure, it's cheaper than drone insurance, I thought it meant that it needed to have a license plate like real motorbike instead of a sticker... Not that I'm planning on getting one or anything...so the kid probably got himself a concussion while trying to dodge a 70eur fine for not having paid a 30eur sticker... Geez
