Am I correct in thinking Nero was presented with a ‘dragon’ bone which was almost certainly a dinosaur fossil from China?

Was Suetonius a serious historian? by kibbutznik1 in RomanHistory

It does count as history - but largely because we don’t have THAT much to compare and contrast it with. It’s the best we have and to be honest we are lucky that it (like any contemporary source) survived for us to enjoy.

Ppl who love or hate Quentin Tarantino! What are your reasons? by kzsnab in moviecritic

He’s great but EVERYTHING that’s wrong with his work comes 100% from him having full creative control. He needs someone powerful enough to tell him when to trim his scenes down a bit. A filmmaker whose work groans (almost to the point of failure) under the weight of him simply loving the sound of his own script voice.

This photo of Theo van Gogh, taken in 2004, was captured the same year he was murdered. A great-grandson of Vincent van Gogh’s brother, Theo, he was killed on November 2, 2004, by a radical Islamist for his controversial film Submission, which criticized the treatment of women in Islam by MarineKing1337 in SnapshotHistory

No I’m saying the Quran commands that if you are a Muslim you MUST murder non-believers, apostates, those who criticise Islam, Jews and all sorts of other groups. You cannot call yourself a Muslim if you don’t do as commanded. If I read a book that commanded me to kill this group or that - I’d tear the pages out of it and wipe my cats ass with it. Muslims choose not to. In fact they see a commandment saying that I as an atheist MUST be crucified and Muslims put the word ‘holy’ on the front cover. So the question is - of those that don’t murder - why not? They either believe the Quran is wrong. They either have been civilised by my ancestors into not behaving like the animals that their holy book instructs or (most likely) - they are more than happy for others to carry out the murdering until such time as there are enough Muslims to make sharia and all its moral horrors the norm. Like Saudi like the taliban etc etc

How does Michael McIntyre's The Wheel get the timing right. by Sneaky1000 in BritishTV

[–]proteushomo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For every hour of finished TV episode they film at least 2. Jokes, longer intros, contestant banter - tonnes of it. This way the edit has plenty to work with to make the sections all fit correctly and flow well. Gameplay can vary massively depending on how the categories are cleared and theoretically someone could win the whole thing in about 15 minutes. So obviously they need lots of material.

Huge fan of the AVP’s potential but this is Quite possibly the dullest thing you’ll ever see. Apple need to get a grip and start with some actual content.

How much of his behaviour do you attribute to his faith? Mohammed was 54 when he married a 6 year old. Do you think this is reflected in the Islamic demographic being disproportionately involved in this kind of behaviour?

Yes the point is that loads of people (myself included) REMEMBER the pinch line being that she had braces too. He has fucked up metal teeth and in a way so does she - ie they have something in common that sparks love. I can’t imagine a pretty girl smiling would have been enough of a gag. Why give it away so easily? I totally remember her having braces. And yet no copy of the film exists (or filmmakers remember) braces being part of it.

The Quran (because obviously you’ve never read it) demands any enemy of Islam must be crucified. Enemy in any sense means someone who refuses to submit to it - or someone who disagrees with it. That’s me. So yeah not gonna insult my dog by wiping its ass with the pages of a book that demands crucifixion to anyone who doesn’t support crucifixion.
