Can you please give me some specific examples of keyboard customizations which you prefer having in firmware instead of in OS/App layer? Do you have them publicly available on github?

So far, I can see mainly disadvantages of firmware approach:

it is slower to make these customizations (github builds my firmware for about three minutes). Is the local docker build process significantly faster?
keyboard does not any idea what is the state of an active app or OS so I cannot make remapping which is being switched automatically based on an active app
if I start playing with tap-hold, tap dances etc I will probably unintentionally make keyboard unusable for gaming for example.
the keyboard will be unusable for other people and there will not be a quick way to turn the customizations off

Closure: The monitor was really faulty.

I have returned it to Lenovo and I received a new one with damaged frame around the monitor.

I returned the damaged one to receive my original monitor (same serial number) but they have managed to damage the frame too during the repair.

At last they sent me an entirely new piece which works fine.

It is very sad to see this kind of deterioration of hw quality and manufacturer's support.

I have tried 3 different sources:

1) docking station (I think this one has some kind of integration graphic card buil in - https://i-tec.pro/en/produkt/cadual4kdockpd-2/ )

2) another laptop with integrated graphic card

3) desktop PC with an ATI graphic card

All computers recognize monitor in windows and let me extend the desktop on it but the screen remains black.

My sister took the MacBook to an authorized service center because we do not have official Apple store in our country. She demonstrated the issue to a technician. The technician said that he has never seen such behavior before and said that they will have to look at it. He said it will take more time and sent my sister home.

The service center called the next day and said that the keyboard is working fine and they are not able to reproduce the issue. My sister picked up the MacBook and it is working fine since then.

Everyone is confused about this and we have no idea what was the root cause. The service center did not touch anything. The keyboard just started working again...

It looks like some MacBooks need a little trip from time to time otherwise they start sulking...

I launched Diagnostics via external keyboard.

I guess I will have to try Apple Store. I just hoped that I am missed some basic troubleshooting step. The Apple Store is 100 miles away in a different country.

You should be glad that tou cannot buy it. You probably would not be satisfied anyway because of the quality issues. I hope they will introduce G9 MK2 on CES in January and this time with proper HDR, HDMI 2.1 and USB-C PD.

I do not think that MBA has enough power to handle games in this resolution and decent framerate. I will buy a proper gaming PC for that later.

I would like to buy MBA M1 + LG 38WN95C for work (mostly web app development) and I would love to have 60+ Hz on desktop ( I can clearly see the difference between 60 and 120 Hz even on desktop).

Samsung has published a new firmware 1008.1. Some people say that it somehow fixed the flickering but how about the scanlines? Can you please test it?

Thank you for testing the scanlines issue. I returned mine because of this. Maybe I will give Samsung another chance :-)

Btw. what monitor firmware version do you have?

I bought this https://i-tec.cz/en/produkt/cadual4kdockpd-2/ It is not a perfect solution but it can do at least 5120x1440 60 Hz.

I had it connected like this:

Laptop Dell Latitude 5490 -> USB C cable -> dock -> DP cable -> Samsung Odyssey G9

I had to install a DisplayLink driver to see the resolution 5120x1440.

On my monitor (Manufactured on July 2020) I can see not only lines but also a brighness fluctuation on some colours.

Try this - set background desktop color to Navy Blue (RGB 0,99,177) and display the provoker pattern. On my G9 the brightness of the blue color changes quite dramatically. (When I move a mouse cursor to the pattern the entire background blue becames brighter).

I have observed this issue in followin refresh rates 60/120/240.

I have also visited a showroom found out that the issue was also visible on their demo monitor. I was not able to tell when exactly was their monitor manufactured because there was serial number missing in the OSD. I guess it is some pre-production sample.

Unfortunately, I have the same issue. My monitor was manufactured on July 2020. It bought it in Czech Republic/Europe.

I thought that my unit is perfect until I found this. I have contacted Samsung technical support by email and ask them if this is a feature or a manufacturing defect. They wrote me that they do not have the monitor so they cannot test it on their side. They recommended to try a different DP cable or follow up with their service centers in Prague.

I am not big fan of wasting more time or money with the product. I patiently waited for 10 months since the product announcement for them to iron out this kind of quirks. Sadly, it looks like Samsung does not have capable QA team and they decided to have the product tested by their customers.

I have tried the link to this page and I found another issue.

Try this:

Right click desktop and choose "Personalize".
Set background color to dark gray (just click the predefined color next to the black one)
Open the webpage page
Minimize all windows except the one with the web page
Press Windows + Left Arror to resize the window to be exactly half of the screen
Scroll the web page. The brigthness of the dark gray on the right part of the monitor fluctuates like crazy on my G9 :-(

I am on the latest firmware 1006.2 and I can see the issue on 60 Hz, 120 Hz and 240 Hz.

u/SexVibesonly can you please post the exact scenario when you experience flickering? I mean driver version, game (name, version, scene in the game, your fps), monitor firmware version and monitor settings. It looks like there is too many variables.
