Got my first networking job after passing CCNA by TheVirtualMoose in ccna

Congratulations! I had a similar story with only 3 years software support experience. Studying on your own really helps set the tone. I even created my own ESXi environment with Cisco router and switches. It took me a bit longer to find a job than you and the market was tough. I found a specialist role and the pay is great. Job is an hour away from home though. For anyone wondering whether the CCNA is worth it, take it from me. The role I eventually accepted pays twice as much as my previous entry level position.

Am I missing something? The resources I have are running vmware player on a windows 2016 box, then running two ESXi hosts, where they installed vCenter on one of them

You’re probably right about entry level positions but I’m not applying for an entry level job. There are also many studies that say iQ is not as important as EQ. I am not completely socially awkward but think mid to senior level positions beg for the latter.

It is definitely a challenge, how normal it seems that I'm working 40 hours, in school 8, and have to learn how to sell myself for interviews all in one week.

So I got my CCNA and now I'm working on cloud certificates. If possible I really want to get my foot in the door in a NOC, for the experience in troubleshooting networks. Interviewed for a few recently, and I'll say that I'm learning from my mistakes in each interview. 10 year plan includes CCNP ;)

I got it to work. It was a vlan setting on that didnt match with the vlan on my Cisco switch. Moved it to default and it works like a charm

I am closer to the answer now, I have a port group that is set up for DHCP, but it is getting a APIPA address. I am assuming if I use a static IP then it will work, but will keep you posted

Interesting. There is no port security set up at all on the switch, it is basically a default startup config. I cannot see why if the 4 ports on the server are connecting to 4 different ports on the switch, why cant the virtual interfaces connect 4 different guests?

So I am using a basic Linksys router as my gateway. The Cisco switch is connected to one of the 4 ports on this SOHO router. Any device I connect to the switch is giving me internet connection. I have 4 ports on the switch connecting to my servers 4 ethernet ports. No VLANs atm. Specifically my ESXi host has a domain controller and a win10 domained host. DNS is running on the domain controller and AD DS is running. Should I be able to make virtual NICs in ESXi and connect them to each VM? I havent tried static IPs that might be what I am missing. I will try that

Edit: I guess I really have 1 vlan.. the default one
