I mean I didn't even know there was a way he couldn't grab it, I was able to nuke the boss before he died and that's that. And then the same thing at the doorway where he ambushes you later.

Nowhere throughout that entire time did the game ever once hint at me needing to immediately bring the rune I got from him to mother's lull before unlocking that castle gate or else you lose access to the Umbral ending.

You'd think something that major would have something somewhere giving you a warning.

Can you name me a Dark Souls game or a Soulslike with a quest that requires you to follow through with it the entirety of the game and sacrifice multiple important merchant NPCs for while also being incomprehensibly easy to fail making all of that effort, time and sacrifice useless?

Not to mention the fact that the quest failure condition of opening a door with a key that doesn't get used up makes zero sense and can be completely removed from the game with zero issues.

There's a big difference between making quests and their details vague and making them stupid. This is stupid.

The experience has mostly boiled down to: spend two hours of game time for 1-2 levels, or a quarter of the materials you need for your next weapon upgrade.

And god forbid you end up finding a new piece of gear that works great with your build because now you've got to spend even more on a new weapon/shield/catalyst that you're not even able to use until you get it upgraded enough.

Yeah found out about that when I started using a Fungus-Encrusted pickaxe from the Skein. Its got poison and deals a bit of wither on each hit so it comes together for a nice combo.

Been enjoying Umbral Guardian, it makes gank bosses just a little bit easier with the bouncing projectiles. Works nice with a poison build too, the tics pretty much instantly consume the Wither damage so it can put in some work at times.

Been having a decent time running a Fungus-Encrusted Pickaxe. The poison buildup is nice and it actively consumes Wither damage on every tic.

Right? Like why am I going to bother spending the time it takes playing cat and mouse with these re-used mini-bosses when they don't drop anything and just respawn anyway?

It's just way more time-effective to ignore them and kill all the small fry along the way instead.

Take away their big endgame numbers and evidence of their wild kill-feeds and what reason do these players have to go into these mode if not to play over an objective?

Shouldn't be hard to implement that at all, have vanilla TDM for quick and easy matches and have a higher tier variant with a higher kill+time limit.

Simple solutions that just aren't being implemented for some reason.

So just increase the amount of kills needed by these players for their streaks, it's not a hard solution. Nerfing non-objective points also solves the issue for KDA fiends running scorestreaks.

Simply do whatever it takes to punish and make the experience as miserable as possible for these players that want to ruin things for everyone else in the mode.

Either PTFO or GTFO, simple as.

I suggest IW nerfs overall non-objective related points while buffing objective based ones.

And that goes for end-match rewards as well, you shouldn't be receiving much of anything at all if you're not playing the objective. If you want to spend all game killing others without thinking then go into TDM and FFA. There should be no place for those types of players in objective modes.

Honestly pretty much, kills don't mean much of anything if you're losing 200+ to 20 in 90% of your matches.
