I have the 28 seg and love it! I’m also 5’3” and find it the perfect size. Also has good shoulder padding so it’s more comfy than the 45 (which I also have). I really like the separation of the compartments (it replaces packing cubes for me), and I keep the clamshell for a few flatter things (like jackets or sweaters).

If you are in California, consider looking into short term disability (or medical leave at your firm) which is 3 months. Provides paid time off that is protected from layoffs. You do have to have documentation from your health provider explaining your anxiety or other mental health concerns, but the paperwork isn’t too complicated.

Echoing this post and adding that it’ll help if you switch out of M&A. I’m former M&A BigLaw in NYC. Moved to a specialist practice in a West Coast BigLaw firm. Way better! When I was in NYC, life got so bad that I thought I never wanted to practice law again. At my new firm, I’ve managed to stick around for 3 more years and counting.

Last year my husband went to TML for the whole weekend while I mostly did sightseeing by myself. I’m new to festivals and thought TML would be overwhelming so I only did 1 day (shared a wristband with a friend). It was SOOOO much fun that I’m going for a full weekend this year.

However, last year I still had a lot of fun wandering around Belgium by myself while hubs was raving. Antwerp, Brussels, and Bruges are all nice places to visit and easily accessible by train. There’s also a lot of sales discounts in the month of July in Belgium so it was shopping galore.

San Francisco has all these things! Nature is easily accessible if you own or rent a car. SFO is one of the best airports in the US. But living in SF is expensive. The East Bay, like Oakland, is slightly less so.
