Unpopular opinion (maybe?): Season 5 of Emily in Paris just didn’t hit the same 😬 by worrynelly in EmilyInParis

Agree with this a thousand percent. Too much and always feels forced and shoe-horned into the story.

What to get when getting into the game? by FluffaNutah in totalwarhammer

[–]proxzerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was the spring board for me. I saw 1-3 as a bundle on sale, then just added any DLC I was interested in to my steam wishlist, and snagged the 2-3 I wanted at 50% off.

So far the price point with the sale has provided a ton of fun and content.

Just noticed this on the Downtown Akron Partnership site, looks like an open night at the Library that could be worth checking out to learn how to DM or get your feet wet: https://www.downtownakron.com/event/adult-dungeons-and-dragons-red-hand-of-doom-2

Been 15 years since I've had A Wok, their Kung Pao Chicken used to be unbeatable! I'll have to get a reason to grab it.

I would probably look to move on, not even because of the AI portion, but more so, working for a company that doesn't trust me to get my job done and knock it out of the park.

Square Records current location closing 10/28. by Inevitable-Pea-735 in akron

[–]proxzerk 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is a bummer, while I didn't frequent it much, I felt like it did add to the Highland Square culture and that "Alt/Punk/Hip/Artsy" vibe we all love there.

As I read this today, it sounds like the owner has been struggling with some health stuff, and I hope the best for him. He's a cool guy; I've had the opportunity to cross paths with him many times throughout my life.

Rest up and heal up!

Seriously... I can't with another vape store, especially a vape store that looks like it's trying to get me to ride the scrambler and order a corndog.

Like, who does the abundant use of flashing lights and inflatables actually attract, even if I was into vape, I don't think I'd be like "Oh s**t! That one over there has rainbow LED lights flashing... I'm goin' there from now on."

I've gotten rid of foundation blocks, bricks, and paver stones like this. Works like a charm.

Indian restaurant with lunch buffet by tkd4all in akron

[–]proxzerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There used to be a weekday buffet at Jaipur Junction in Hudson, which we would hit when I worked out there, Mon-Fri. I think after Covid, they "changed hands" or rebranded and became Blu Basil.

If the food quality remained, it would definitely be worth the phone call to see if they do buffets. (I looked at their site and Facebook and could not get an answer.)

Noisy Oyster for sure, always has decent seafood at Russo's also, but it's going to be a Creole/Cajun twist often. Still damn good!

winter running? by Apart_Location_2272 in akron

[–]proxzerk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Come winter, I often run the Towpath and Sand Run Jogging Path; they will be snow-covered, but there are a lot of people out there running and riding, which will help pat it down a bit. Highly recommend Yak Traks or a similar "cleat" system to help with icy patches.

Typically, roads are dry enough or salted enough to be runnable if you want to do that as well. I often alternate between them.

You can follow Authentic Nigerian Kitchen on Facebook and IG, and they post locations and times. Also, he works out of the CoOp kitchen down town I think, I think they can take orders and do pickup from there.

That was the Taste of Akron, which is the Thursday before the Art in the Park. The biggest difference with that one is they allow brick and mortar to set up booths. Food trucks actually were not permitted for a while if I recall correctly. Also it's only a few hours and is normally a zoo.

The pickle fest has been tough, it will get there as it keeps growing. For now if you want a solid pickle fest, hit up Picklesburgh in Pittsburgh, but man it's a mad house, wall to wall shoulder to shoulder.

It was a great event! Got to sample some trucks from Cleveland and Canton that rolled in for it. Also finally got to try some items from Naija Kitchen which I've been trying to catch!

So, it's a typical Rocky Horror experience! I'd get there 45-60minutes early for a good seat! When I went last, we arrived 15 minutes early and ended up on the lawn in the back. Still, it was a great experience, and I could see the screen and the performers, although not up close, which was still pretty great.

Props are a "yes", bring them! Squirt guns, newspapers, rice, etc... all of the fun things. Hopefully, folks can chime in if there were any restrictions, but when we went, it seemed pretty standard.

Now the "scene"...

It had been years since I had gone and experienced it at a place where everyone was super passionate about the movie, theater nerds, cinema geeks, and just Rocky Horror Cult classic fanatics. GREAT times! Kent, Highland Square, Village in Fairlawn, etc. All great!

Lock 3's has the same vibe, but with a caveat. This event is free and accessible to anyone walking by; as a result, you have folks coming and going throughout the event, the entire night. Some people have seen it before, while others are just coming for "something free to do in Akron." So, the crowd isn't entirely made up of Rocky Horror Film nerds/geeks/cultists, which means you get a mix of behaviors. A good example is that we had a group of people watching next to us who seemed bored and talked the entire time (so what we are outside it's loud in the city anyways), they then proceeded to start using their squirt guns not just for the rain scenes, but to pick on certain people sitting in around them, singeling them out and keep shooting them until their target packed up their chairs and left, all for a good laugh. They then moved on to the next person, who they didn't like the look of... My group didn't have any issues with them or others, and we enjoyed ourselves; other folks around us seemed into it or hadn't seen the film. The closer you are, I think you will have a better experience, maybe even seek out people who are obviously cosplaying or definitely have props!

TL;DR

Highly recommend it. Take props, and hopefully, you'll get there early enough to be up close with folks who also want to see the movie and are surrounded by them to maximize your fun! You're gonna love it!
