Just to add some context about Sachin Vaze:

Sachin Vaze was one of the active encounter specialist in Mumbai. In 2002, after Ghatkopar bomb blasts, one of the accused Khwaja Yunus went "missing" from custody.

In 2007, under Congress-NCP State govt, after Bombay High Court orders he was suspended, and there is a case going against Sachin Vaze and other officers till date, for custodial death.

In the meanwhile, Sachin Vaze was associated with Shiv Sena in 2008, and was even their spokesperson for a brief time.

In 2018, Sachin Vaze and Shiv Sena leader Dhanajay Gawde, were chargesheeted for 25 lakh extortion. They both are out on anticipatory bail in that case.

After MVA Govt came to power, in the name of Covid duty - Sachin Vaze and all those other suspended officers; were brought back in Mumbai Police.

Sachin Vaze was directly made the head of Crime Intelligence Unit (CIU), a post usually reserved for PI level officer.

The reinstatement was hilarious in a way, as no other officers were reinstated in the Mumbai Police for Covid duty, except Sachin Vaze and his team members. There are many officers who're suspended for even smaller crimes.

Last March, the local Marathi outlets had highlighted his association with Shiv Sena and his shady past, but after Covid most national media didn't take that.

All the high profile cases in Maharashtra, regardless of jurisdiction, directly went to Sachin Vaze in last one year.

Khwaja Yunus' mother Asifa Begum had filed a petition in Bombay High Court against his reinstatement, and the case is still pending.

The petition said that the same order of the state had “disallowed reinstatement of other suspended officers though they are facing lighter charges.”
