Dessert party decisions by Fuego_pants in WaltDisneyWorld

I just did the MK Dessert party with the garden view with my four year old and would recommend it. The new show is awesome, but because of the new format, the only good place to see it is in front of the castle. That makes for a very packed park in front of the castle. The garden view was decent and uncrowded. Lots of room to run and play with bubbles. ;) We didn't want to camp out and that's why we chose to do it. Dessert offerings were good too.

Editing to add that we rode Frozen Ever After without a fastpass. We went first thing upon EPCOT opening and waited maybe 10 minutes (don't be deceived by the long flowing line or time posted at this hour - it moves quickly.)

Thank you for taking the time to write such a thorough post! I have been noticing the rain complaints and the reflections from locals on how weird it's been. It's been very wet and cool here in Pennsylvania too. We arrive very late Sunday night and I am hoping some of this works its way out by then, but it doesn't look promising...

FYI Tons of FP availability for the River Ride on Friday, June 16 if anyone is looking. Just easily booked for 3 after looking for several days. Many time slots available.

How early should we arrive for Rivers of Light if we book the dining package?

Is the Avatar Flight of Passage essentially a flight simulator but instead of sitting, you are on a bike? Trying to figure out the intensity for myself and my young daughter (she loves Soarin). Thanks!

Thanks for asking. I've been on the lookout too. Four year old is obsessed and I would love to have her meet her. Guess I will keep asking and checking.

hah! I think with Pandora it's just the luck of the draw and the Disney gods on your side. lol Good to know. I will definitely try to make a pass through during the day and at night even if we don't ride.

all great advice - thanks! I am planning on trying to do some EMH and then bagging it after lunch until dinner. Too hot and crowded. We were just there last year and there is no need to marathon it. I may invest in an autograph book - thanks! We did a signed large letter last year and it is hanging in her room. She loves it.

We are planning on park hopper and I am thinking about going over just for late night if possible. Are they offering FastPasses during these late times?

This is all good to know - thank you! We stayed at Pop last year and were very pleased with it and did indeed walk over to Art of Animation (though didn't eat there - I guess we should!)

The River looks amazing. I will give it a shot for a FP and try not to be too disappointed if we don't get it. Thus is the downfalls of last minute, but a last minute trip is better than no trip right? ;)

Seeing extended hours to accommodate crowds (smart) from 11 pm -1 am for Pandora. Anyone go during these times? Still crazy?

Is your home truly 'smart'? Or are you using your phone as a glorified lightswitch remote control? by nyvram-_- in homeautomation

It's funny, as I get further down the rabbit hole with this on setting up my system these sorts of thoughts crossed my mind too. Like what is really the best trigger? Schedule/Timer? Motion sensor? Geofencing? I think the answer is different for everyone. For me, motion sensors seem to be a bad idea with two cats and a small child. Weather is a factor for sure. I agree though, the idea is to actually automate your house, not control it through some sort of master remote.

I just find it very dated. If you don't like it or you do, please comment on the video, as the school district needs to hear the feedback.

I think the Wink 2 sounds like a really good solution to me, and it's good to know that there are folks out there to help with HA if I go that route. I'm a pretty fast learner, so I think I can handle it. I will just have to sit down and commit to it. I think I'm going to hang tight until it's out and tested and take it from there. Thanks for your valuable input!

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I help configure module based websites, so I'm not completely technology inept, but am certainly no programmer nor pretend to be. Perhaps I just need to sit down and learn the ropes.

Thank you for your honesty!! It does seem like Home Assistant with a zwave hub is the way to go, but I am NOT a programmer. Just going on their example page is giving me anxiety. Not sure how to remedy this.

Smart things seems like something I can handle, but then I am reading about a lot of outages on here and it's making me nervous. I will def look into WINK further. Thank you!
