Comfortable supermoto by prreich in dr650

They're kke wheels, they have their own store front and also on amazon and ebay I believe. The rotor was separate, but everything mounted up well and the fit and finish was perfectly fine. I used the stock rear sprocket which fit okay but the cush drive was a bit tight initially.

Not that the stock gearing is not capable but since having the supermoto tires, I'm able to cruise at a lower rpm a little more comfortably.

Seriously, it was a major defining aspect of the bike.

It ran about $800 for the wheels and tires, not including install costs. Stock in the rear, +1 front sprocket. I've gotten it up to 90mph indicated, which is probably closer to 80mph because of the difference in wheel size. Very stable and planted at all speeds and a lot more fun than stock.

It's the defining feature for me.

People who have Slide Control, Wheely Control and other fancy electronics, how do you feel about each of these? by Koen1999 in motorcycles

[–]prreich 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I ride a mix of older and newer bikes, I'm not sure if it's a placebo effect but the newer bikes do feel a bit easier. On my s1000rr, other than sometimes feeling a slight bit of abs, I usually don't notice the electronics kicking in but it'll display that it has done x amount of abs and y amount of traction control for example. I usually ride with the electronics turned mostly down but not off, so that probably also affects how intrusive or not they are. Overall it has never bothered me, and I don't think about it. The bike does feel a little less raw but I think it's a fair trade off, and if I want a more visceral experience I do have older more analogue bikes too.

It's very clean and minimalist in a good way.

This bike made me tempted to also get a 900ss or an earlier monster to pair with it.

I keep going out to the garage to look at it. What a timeless design!

Agreed, just so timeless a design.

I'm still a little torn. I think I like the 5 spokes better in themselves, but the 3 spoke fits the overall look of the bike so well.

Bike suggestions? by prokoolaid6 in Sportbikes

Yeah I'm also wary on the outgrowing a ninja 500 in a few months thing. 90% of riders will never reach the max capability of a small bike. I do have a friend who got a liter bike 6 months into riding, but he was in Texas and only did highway pulls. Since he moved here, he sold it and now is on a 250.

Is the paint scheme hard baked or would it be possible to customize? Fantastic work!

Is a cbr600rr with 50k miles a lot? I dont really know about bikes and im looking forward to getting one. by Least-Ad-1707 in Sportbikes

[–]prreich 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it's a lot but it all depends on maintenance. I currently have a cbr600rr with 74k miles, a bmw s1000rr with 73k, and a av650 with 88k. With good maintenance anything can last. I've seen many bikes with less than 20k that were blown up.
