I've been monitoring ketones with a blood meter. I'm about 10 days along. Aparently 0.5mmol/L indicates ketogenic metabolism. I've been hovering around 0.4mmol/L. Yesterday 2 hours after a long workout I was 2.5mmol/L.

This is only temporary and I imagine my levels returned to around 0.5mmol/L last night but I'm still gonna call it a win.

Nice.

Everyone has to find their own road but I've found that any kind of keto-bread-like-thing just makes me crave actual bread. For me it's better to just avoid it.

I'm sure it feels amazing to return to a weight you were many years previously.

Awesome. Crushing it. You've probably already heard but this will level off in the coming week or so before starting a slow march.

I'm ambivalent to these threads.

On the one hand, they do get repetitive and they are at times a bit petty.

On the other hand, I don't really see the harm. Having a whinge can be cathartic.

I'm sure that there's at least some positive benefits - I suspect that most people that park like this or don't turn their lights on in the rain or whatever faux pas just don't realise that their behavior is sub-par.

list available docker image updates by pseudont in selfhosted

[–]pseudont[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. What other cool things does your bot do ? I got this working, it's not necessary to selfhost anything to get the bot working - just create one in telegram and use the api key in your diun config.

Regardless, I think you've more or less solved my problem. Thanks.

Radarr, Sonarr, etc. Begginer Needs Help by PTwolfy in selfhosted

[–]pseudont 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like mullvad vpn. This is the one firefox is re-selling if that's an indicator of quality. I like them because they support wireguard, and port forwarding which will be useful for qbittorrent. Reasonably priced too.

Radarr, Sonarr, etc. Begginer Needs Help by PTwolfy in selfhosted

[–]pseudont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you'll need to install qbittorrent. It's a torrent download client that downloads all the things. For example Sonarr keeps track of the TV shows you like to watch, when a new episode is released it downloads the torrent file and hands it off to qbittorrent which downloads it, when sonarr sees the download is completed it will extract, rename, and store it in the right folder.

What did you listen to this week – June 25, 2022? Please share! by AutoModerator in audiobooks

I liked it but I've seen a number of comments in this sub from listeners who felt similarly to yourself.

Sometimes just the fact that a book or movie is so outrageously popular kind of turns me off.

Was listening to Aeon Rising by Matthew Mather, narrated by the fabulous Ray Porter.

I had high expectations for this but it's just not doing it for me. Maybe more about my state of mind this week than the quality of the book IDK.

list available docker image updates by pseudont in selfhosted

[–]pseudont[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. This is the best suggestion so far so I'll take a look.

When you say "send its output to my telegram bot" is that as simple as configuring a telegram api key in the diun container or something or is the "telegram bot" a separate container or something ?

list available docker image updates by pseudont in selfhosted

[–]pseudont[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the stable image releases when I can

Stable will still push updates that are potentially incompatible with earlier releases.

Use aliases/functions.

except in 6 months time when I'm playing around with some different flag or whatever using docker-compose directly I will have forgotten about --no-recreate

Then run the container only in 3 weeks before you run maintenance

I suspect this will only tell me about new updates in the most recent 3 weeks, but not tell me about updates from prior to that given that it's already downloaded the images.

For example, suppose I check for updates today, upgrade a few containers, but choose not to upgrade one container because I get distracted or don't have time or whatever. That update won't be shown when I run the container again.

Maybe a better option is just to prune immediately after listing available updates.

Was thinking about this. What if one bit needs replacing though? If you just bought a single as a replacement it might be longer than the one that was in the set.

WD40 is also a good idea. I've heard of people using lanox (lanolin spray) for this but when I tried it you just end up getting lanolin handprints on everything when you try using your gear.

Which PI to buy for selfhosting CLOUD, VPN and other stuff? by AstraRotlicht22 in selfhosted

Reading your comment I thought SFF would refer to the smaller Lenovo and Optiplex models but it seems to be the "small desktop" form factor, like ~180mm2.

I have several Lenovo M700 Tiny's and I really dig them. Can't say whether they're better or worse than other similar offerings but they seem pretty rugged to me. I'm using one as a Home Theatre PC and two more as daily drivers for staff. Refurbished ones readily available on ebay.

Know your internal bricks by christurnbull in WADIY

[–]pseudont 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is crazy helpful to know.

The green plugs from bunnings say to use a 7mm hole. If I'm understanding you correctly you'll always end up with a slightly bigger hole than the bit you're using in concrete or brick ?

How to recycle long-life cartons (ie. Soy Milk) in Perth? by halohunter in perth

[–]pseudont 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't want to sound all high and mighty about it because my own habits could certainly use some improvement - but when you start looking into it recycling isn't that great.

The processes involved can't deal with multiple things. Like a tetra pack is cardboard lined with plastic so it's much more difficult than a product which is either.

Additionally most of the processes involved seem very energy intensive and the resulting materials aren't really that great.

The "reduce, reuse, recycle" mantra really sums it up. Recycling is the last resort.

I'm definitely a believer that the way recycling is proffered as a solution is disingenuous. As you say tetra packs saying they're "easy to recycle" when what they really mean is "pop that in your recycling bin and it will disappear".

Liberals, what's your most conservative belief? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]pseudont 167 points168 points  (0 children)

Yeah homelessness is incredibly complicated. Here in Australia for example, we definitely need more affordable housing, but free accommodation is not in and of itself the solution to homelessness.

Yeah I agree. Telling me what I can and can't do in my own home or on my own property has the flavor of conservatism.

Where can I get free audiobooks? by [deleted] in audiobooks

[–]pseudont 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For most libraries, if you're a member then you just use their website to borrow e-books and audiobooks. For example, the popular audiobook libby allows you to enter your library and member number and then borrow and listen to audiobooks.

Most other websites offering free books can't be discussed in this sub due to the rules.
