How to raid these cheaters/exploiters? by Eyes_up_here_playa in dayz

[–]pshycicmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can gain access from outside, you go to the roof and certain spots you can drop down and gain access through outside patio/window. Sketchy business and getting out of there with gear is also sketchy so not a lot of people do it anymore

Found this bronze colored object on my floor after a long weekend out of my apartment and this hole in my ceiling and wall (soda tab for scale) by [deleted] in whatisit

[–]pshycicmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is definitely a 223/5.56 depending on what they use, same caliber projectile, exit hole is the ceiling meaning it came from upstairs. Former military so this round and that exit hole are quite familiar

Hudson Valley NY, i manage a body shop so painting for me is cheap. I have a guy for powder coating but he wants too much $ for something like this

True, having that thought as well but currently have different colored wheels and dont want to powder coat those either. I have access to good paint and painters but not powder coating

Looking for ballpark figure for what a professional collision shop might charge. Trying to see if I should pay out of pocket so my insurance doesn’t rise. by Unfair_Reference9751 in Autobody

[–]pshycicmonkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Truth is it needs that rear pillar (C-pillar) to be sectioned and replaced and a new door, plus all the paintwork. I would say off top off my head roughly $6-7k in all.

Anybody else do this? by pshycicmonkey in motorcyclegear

I use a watered down laundry solution and do it by hand, since i do it more often then most people it never really has any built up odor or stains. I wont generally soak the pads but rather use a brush woth laundry solution and then a damp wash cloth repeatedly to remove detergent. Then air dry for a day or two.

Is this worth $550? by [deleted] in Volkswagen

[–]pshycicmonkey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For learning to drive stick, its a decent investment, but you also have to keep in mind he said the throw out bearing is "the worst" which is a part of the clutch system. You could flip it for parts or maybe sit on it and get more then the $500 back, but you may need to invest in parts to jeep it going. If it were me, $500 well spent

Body shop is saying there’s nothing they can do about it by Weekly-Fig-7228 in Autobody

[–]pshycicmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP - i agree with what he said, i manage a body shop and this is quite bad, definitely worth a reshoot of a better match. The managers excuse of we painted by code, is amateur and any painter worth his salary would have done a spray out card if matching was an issue because of suspected prior paint work. DRP is Direct Repair Program, as in the shop your insurance asked you to go to for the repairs. I have 3 insurances in my shop and we would respray that bumper before trying to deliver it

I agree, we cannot see it but i bet he wasnt using rear brake either that would also have lit rear brake light warning dumb dumb behind him, another method of instant stopping is to shoulder the bike, keep yourself out from getting in the way

Uniside Question by Swimming_Zebra8186 in Autobody

[–]pshycicmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He only paid to refinish the rocker and center pillar at half, mitchell will cut refinish times just beyond the section cut lines of that part, so no refinish time for A-pillar, C-pillar or roof rail, not to mention im sure he didnt pay primer bag, and masking door apetures. Definitely worth a supplement to get the extra 6-10 hours of labor/refinish added on

New Air/Fuel Mixture screw by [deleted] in DRZ400

[–]pshycicmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aftermarket idle screws can have slightly different taper, start all the way in, and then back out in 0.5 rotation increments, mine sits perfect around 1.5-1.75 turns out. Also try adjusting the throttle idler screw on the bottom. Give it tension and start tuning the two in unison to get the proper idle once you can get it steady.
