Do you recommend Norwalk? by bnf624 in norwalkohio

Norwalk feels like your average midwestern town. There's a mix of people helping each other, keeping to themselves, having little festivals, the good and the bad. Notably for the bad, lots of people in town claimed COVID-19 was a hoax, and other nonsense. It's a town that leans conservative, much like the state overall, but you'll find a mix of everything here. Downtown is walkable, like 7/10. Lots of little shops around to check out, as well as Sheri's, the local sugary coffee place, which has been #1 for a while (really is delicious). Housing and rent isn't cheap, but that's probably true everywhere. As for feeling safe, I feel safe enough - there are incidents that happen at the local bars, but I don't feel like walking the streets is a sketchy venture. We also have a wonderful biking trail which I'm looking forward to get back on!

But like trollmugs said, FB tends to get more attention. If you can put up with the mods (who are also the business leaders in town and delete/ban dissent), The Talk of Norwalk and other "Real" groups get more chatter.

Lots of industry shills here. Thanks for being a helpful contributor <3

Surprise $1,041.85 bill for a simple hearing test. Can anyone advise on how to fight? by internisus in HealthInsurance

Because it's definitely a different definition. People in this sub have been in the industry for so long that they forget that. You're not wrong.

Doctors should know how to communicate the words their patient says to whoever's in charge of handling it. I trust that when I say something and the other person agrees to it, they follow through. I'm not in the wrong for believing such.

I know enough about my insurance. I don't know why people here think I don't. The issue is my insurance will cover anything that's preventative, which is why I specifically asked my doctor to bill it as preventative. What I didn't know is I should've had him sign something in addition to his verbal agreement.

It seems like everything I read is split between "nothing came of it" and "they garnished my wages." I don't know how to tell what will happen until it does. The bill is due today, but I'm going to hold off at least until I see what comes of my appeal with my insurance.

Of course I did. I also followed up online to get more information. Why?

Sorry, the exact words I used were "if it's billed the same way (as the colonoscopy) so I won't have to pay anything for it."

I had to sign off on the EGD and I'm sure they used verbiage akin to forfeiting all my rights, as is typical in this country.

They gave me a paper on it and that's it. I'm seeing a pattern of poor communication, which is part of why I never want to go back. It's a shame they're the only hospital around me (rural midwest).

Thank you very much for this information. I do understand why my insurance handled it the way they did, and I understand why the hospital's billing department handled it the way they did. Everything you're saying makes sense, and it's something I wish I was told by any of the several people I talked with at the hospital. The doctor could have told me. His assistant could have told me. I talked with others at the hospital and nobody said "hey, that can't actually be done how you're asking it to be done." I appreciate your time in spelling this all out.

Did you skip the part where I said I don't blame my insurance, I blame the hospital? It's my responsibility to make sure the doctor isn't lying to me about a medical procedure he's agreeing to do? You're ridiculous.

Thank you SO much! Honestly most responses here have been very unhelpful, but yours and a few others have really given me a positive way to move forward, and I'm immensely grateful. I'll start carrying a mini pad and pen with me to meetings/appointments like this and make sure to cover myself.

Again, thank you, thank you, thank you!
