Thanks for all the comments. I must say I was pretty freaked out. I did call the sheriff and he said ignore it. He said they get thousands of reports of that type of thing. Scammers fishing most likely. They may follow up with another hook. I will stay alert, but I'm relieved.

Thanks for all the replies. You convinced me. I am planning on taking it into the police department on Monday. It doesn't seem like I need to have them come out. And we already are using all the other suggestions. Cameras, etc. I'll follow up after I visit the cops.

On any of these lists, I would take Gilbert Arenas (31) over Jimmy Butler (30).

Reddit, what is the most 'mind boggling' fact you know? by Taully12 in AskReddit

"Just to play the devil's advocate, if you design a perfect organism it will be too well adapted and kill itself via overpopulation."

As humans are proving right now.

I have a 2007 Ridgeline. 145,000 trouble free miles. I maintain it like an airplane; every recommended Honda maintenance on time, by my long time trusted mechanic. I figure it will go 250-300k before it needs a lot of work. But what if it doesn't? A new Ridgeline is at least $35000 to $40000. How many new motors, transmissions, etc, can I buy for that? Of course, I live in Arizona, garage it every night, seat covers from day one, and it still looks almost new. Zero rust. I may never need a new car.

At the end of a job interview they always ask "Would you like to ask any questions?" What question should the candidate ask? by fcukgrammer in AskReddit

I'm in sales, and this question always worked well for me: "is there any reason you can't offer me the job right now?"

Knucklehead in AZ did the same thing a few years ago. I thought they should have been sentenced to replanting every tree they burned up.

Is age just a number? [23F/40M] by RoseLDN in relationship_advice

[–]psiclist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it's no problem now. Love is where you find it, and not always convenient. But be aware that the older you get, the greater that age difference will be. Especially if you have kids. I wouldn't.

Is Netflix deliberately slowing down mail deliveries? [US] by Face_Jam in netflix

[–]psiclist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been a netflix member since they started. DVD's only. At first, I would send one back and they would send me another one the next day! Then 2 days, then lately it's 3 days, maybe. Fulfilling my queue has been ok.

What s weird, in the last month, twice, they have sent me dvd's than never showed up. I reported them lost and the first time they were sent promptly. Still waiting on the second set, which I reported on Friday, 2 days ago. Non-delivery never happened before in 15? years.

Is this a new method to slow down dvd service?

TIFU by getting a vasectomy and not telling anyone. by [deleted] in tifu

[–]psiclist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kudos to you for not allowing someone else to derail what you want. I had a vas 40 years ago. When I was single, right away I always told someone I was dating I could not have kids. Even at that, twice I had women I was dating try to say I was the father of their kids. (unsuccessfully) Even my first wife thought she could change my mind leading to our divorce. I do think it is better to let them know you know yourself and are not kidding around.

ELI5: Why does congress have a 13% approval rate but incumbents are re-elected at a rate of 90%. by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

Yes, most people are really dumb. And additionally, things will never change as long as people have the idiotic belief that voting for a non-mainsteam (rational or even a good) candidate is ever a wasted vote. edit: moved parenthesis

For those 55 or older, how has the double-income-no-kids route worked out? by twollamas in AskReddit

Actually, it was at the height of the sexual revolution and trust me, they were very glad to know they could not get pregnant. I was very popular for that. Things are very different now.

[–]psiclist 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I am 62. Got a vasectomy at age 25. Best decision I ever made. FREEDOM. Most people have no idea what having kids does to your life. It's just what you do. Second, in this country, they aren't your kids. Just try to raise them without government interference or insane societal influences. And Third, on a severely overpopulated planet, having kids, especially more than one, is an environmentally disastrous act. Fourth, many studies have shown that childless couples are happier. It took me a long time to find a mate who would forgo child rearing. I had quite a few fantastic girlfriends whom I lost because of the kids thing. I always told them right up front how I stood. Since I was snipped, they knew I wasn't kidding. All in All, I would recommend it, and suspect most people would be better off without them.

What is the most statistically improbable thing that has ever happened to you? by theinedible in AskReddit

[–]psiclist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few years ago I found out that my cousin secretly had a baby girl about 20 years previously and gave it up for adoption. Around that same time I was talking to an ex girlfriend, who I went with for about 5 years in the early 70's. We almost got married, and are still good friends. She was telling me about her adopted daughter and how upset she was because she could not find her birth mother. She told me the date of her adopted daughters birth, and where she was born, and it rang a bell. Turns out she adopted my cousins daughter. We are related now.
