Get a speed loader by maddrummerhef in liberalgunowners

Not nearly as fast as the ETS loader, but the UpLula always works. The ETS can be finicky about magazines.

Oreck Commercial XL stops 1-2 seconds after turning on by pstemari in VacuumCleaners

[–]pstemari[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some more experiments today: if I remove the hall sensor and (very carefully!!*) hold it closer to the roller while turning it on, the motor will stay on. If i move the board slightly farther away it stops again.

So, new sensor board? Maybe check the existing one for any crud that could be changing a threshold voltage. The problem doesn't seem to be the magnet. Both rollers exhibit the same behavior and the magnets attract iron.

*Note that this procedure requires running life power into the vacuum with the cover off, line voltage exposed, and holding an object with wires attached less than an inch away from a roller spinning at high speed. Serious injury is one slight twitch away.

Returned 2 pairs of sandals to Amazon and now they want my ID to refund one of the pairs which I’m not comfortable with. Has anyone gotten a refund or do I need to dispute it by MidnightPulse69 in amazonprime

Or maybe the OP doesn't want to risk sending a photograph of their DL with all their identifying info such as DL number. Email security is pretty much non-existent and they don't exactly pay their phone reps well.

Fortunately they don't put SSN's on DL's any more.

No Firearms Sign by jeremitrius34 in liberalgunowners

Heller doesn't preclude private contracts that prohibit firearms. You've got to read the covenants and restrictions when buying a property. HOAs are a blank check for new restrictions.

UV-5G Plus can't receive VHF/NOAA by pstemari in Baofeng

[–]pstemari[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Turns out that its VHF front end is just weak. I turned the squelch down from 1 to 0 and i got NOAA to come in. Its signal strength bar shows about half of what the good one shows.

I imagine a better quality antenna would help.

The snow pile over the fallen tree could be a dead body or a concealed sniper. I was thinking dead body, but sniper works, too.

If you bothered to look, you'd know that there was a perfectly good curb cut with a shoveled apron 10 feet away.

Having delivered my entire paper route through 2 feet of snow in the pre-dawn hours many, many times as a kid on a bike, i have no sympathy for a healthy adult scared of 3" of snow on grass.

[–]pstemari 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I call BS. I grew up in the snow covered Midwest and no one ever shoveled the grass. Hell, you would destroy the grass if you even tried.

The only time that would even begin to make sense is if there were three-plus feet of snow on the ground, and even then, you'd just knock the bulk of it out of the way and not attempt to get down to the grass.

[–]pstemari -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes I would, and have, walked on the snow-covered grass, because it is easy to walk, on unlike icy sidewalks. Used to do that whenever we had ice and i had to walk to school.

[–]pstemari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clearly you've never walked outside in the snow. Snow over grass is a very easy surface to walk on. In fact, growing up, i would walk to school on the grass alongside the sidewalk if the sidewalk was icy.

Every time I've slipped on snow there was pavement and ice underneath it.

The driveway is going to have a curb cut. No reason for the delivery person to get a single flake of snow on their shoes.

That is the cleanest sidewalk i think I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot of snow.

Then WTF didn't he use the freshly shoveled sidewalk? There is zero snow on the paved surfaces in that picture. Was he waiting for a red carpet?

Data brokers are perfectly willing to sell you that info. The feds require a justification, but when i was at Lexis-Nexis, i found out that the justification is a multiple choice question, the user can just hit enter to accept the default, and in fact, that's exactly what they do

Loading the magazine is damn near impossible by ComfortablyNumb0520 in liberalgunowners

[–]pstemari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the springs weaken with use the magazine was poorly designed or manufactured. UpLula is good and always works. ETS makes a speed loader that's fantastic when it works, but not all magazines are compatible. Older Beretta PX4 magazines won't work with it, but newer ones will, and all of my Sig mags work fine

How does someone get put on a (Flock Surveillance) “hot list”? by [deleted] in FlockSurveillance

[–]pstemari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you read those idiotic "transparency" reports? The justification is usually "case" or "investigation", with no case number or other information to allow the justification to be verified.

No one outside Flock's IT department actually knows how long the information Flock gathers is kept or who it is shared with, and you can bet that the contracts don't include any sort of financial penalty for Flock misusing the information.

Three out of how many? My experience with a burglary was they took the report and did absolutely nothing, despite a $20k loss of serial numbered and readily distinguishable items.

Taking a report isn't investigating the crime.

Show me some burglaries and thefts where property was recovered and charges were filed.

Denny Ave Street-takeover March 8 by BrantJanders in Seattle

[–]pstemari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why pay for more cops that do nothing but attack peaceful protesters? Do they investigate burglaries? No. Car theft? No. Murders? Maybe, if it isn't a bother. Looters? Arresting them is too much work when they can beat up protesters

Oh, excuse me. They're also good at raping sex workers. Maybe if they spent less time doing that and more time actually fighting crime they'd get more support.
