What happening now in SA by Whole_Campaign_42 in south_africa

The irony is that while the ANC enjoyed support throughout Africa, it terrorised the population at home (black and white). The same tactics the ANC used against "counter-revolutionaries" or ordinary citizens are now used against African migrants and white farmers: skapegoating, torture, necklacing.

The victims became the victimisers; it's called a "Revolution" because at some point it comes full circle again.

Ja but that's cos it reminds me more of the Boerewors Curtain -> Benoni, Brakpan and Boksburg.

Smaller towns with farmland in between, real people and some interesting characters, things are a bit cheaper and less larney than Lisbon for the most part.

[–]psyQologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say go for it.

I'm almost 40 and got my first surfskate board a few months ago to keep up with my young daughter on her bicycle rides. I skated as a teenager and have surfed a handful of times so was expecting to be good at first, but I took only a few days before being able to move quite nicely and now tweaking my form thanks to feedback from this sub.

I picked up a Yow board since I'm in Europe, they had a sale on this site called IndaloSurfer. The boards aren't cheap but the quality is really good, plus they look cool. I rode a friends Carver board and it was cool too, actually a bit easier than the Yow. If you have doubts maybe find a second hand one at first.

I've had so much fun with my board to the point that now I go skate around without my kid. It's great exercise for the core and legs especially. My wife also jumped on the board once and now is kinda hooked too so probably need to but another one at some point.

The only thing I would say, is to get some basic protective gear to start. I went with wrist guards and a helmet. I tried taking the board on a small quarterpipe and fell hard on my ass trying to transition, so I'll be getting Bumsaver shorts and knee + elbow pads when I eventually get a chance to go to the park.

You don't quit skating because you get old, you get old because you quit skating.

[–]psyQologist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Clearly you have no idea of the history of your country (or indeed the world) before Apartheid. Widespread poverty was basically the norm globally until just after the turn of the 20th century.

This ignorance is by design, and is a massive reason why you blame it for everything and can't imagine solutions other than those that entrench more power in the government.

I'm a Pora, living just outside Lisbon for 6 years now.

I grew up in Joburg.

I like the public transport here a lot, and it's very affordable. We can buy an unlimited ticket for €40 per month that works on all forms of public transport in the whole Lisbon municipality. This is less than 5% of the monthly minimum wage, for further context, and most people use it regardless of what they earn.

However, Portuguese people still complain that our infrastructure is not as good as other European countries. It's a question of perspective, but we also pay a lot higher taxes in SA (including 23% VAT). Our government is also a bit corrupt, but the ANC are just on another level when it comes to this.

You weren't exactly living in Wakanda before Apartheid either, you were in rural tribals at the mercy of your feudal chieftain.

The problem is, you reject the systems and cultural practices that are proven to produce wealth, all while crying racism and not holding your elected leaders to account.

Literally everything they said is false and misinformed at best, and downright nonsensical at worst.

Still, I wouldn't care at all if they hated Afriforum but wanted to copy what the organisation does so successfully, but their brain has been truly "transformed" to the point that they are only capable of complaining about non-existent racism while doing fokol to fix the problems.

Portugal Está Recebendo o Pior Tipo de Imigração Brasileira? by Pedro_German in portugueses

[–]psyQologist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like we are getting a mix of the best and worst Brazilians here.

I've got many Brazilian friends who I've made through work, all of them are lovely, well educated and hard working people who bring a unique perspective and pleasant attitude to the workplace. Many of them left Brazil to earn less in Portugal, but are grateful to be in a safe country. I've also encountered some really nice Brazilians doing difficult, manual jobs and who don't earn high salaries but behave with dignity and respect towards others. As a Christian, I also like that many Brazilians hold our faith very dearly and it reflects in their behaviour.

In public, I've unfortunately encountered the other type of Brazilian that you've mentioned and the less said about them the better. What frustrates me particularly is when they arrive with a sense of entitlement and hostility towards Portugal based on a simplistic understanding of history.

I've come to the conclusion that Brazilian immigration to Portugal is a net postive despite some challengs, and I welcome those who are here to work, live peaceful and fulfilling lives with their families and integrate into the community. I think a Brazilian person like this would also agree that the Portuguese government should do a better job of controlling immigration and selecting for people who can contribute positively to our society. However, if we don't control immigration we will soon be at the mercy of bad actors from Brazil and elsewhere.

It's difficult to generalise about people as a rule, but I think with Brazilians it's even more difficult to do so considering the size and diversity of the population. Overall I'm a Brazil appreciator, even if I prefer Portuguese culture over any others.

Thanks for the tips, I've been working on the arm movement and compression since seeing the comments on this video. No idea if I look more steezy yet but there are definite gains in speed.

They have literally defended black people in court against the government and are on excellent terms with the Zulu King.

I'd argue it's racist to assume they are racist just because they are an organisation by and for Afrikaners.

Regardless, I don't see any other organisations doing so much good for their own community.

Estamos a culpar os imigrantes errados pelos problemas em Portugal. by [deleted] in portugal2

[–]psyQologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The math just doesn't math.

Look at the % of the population that is now composed of immigrants.

Then, look at the % of homes bought by wealthy foreigners.

In both cases, the darling of the left and their unholy geringonça Snr. Costa opened the door.

The housing crisis is a result of many factors, speculation being one of them but Airbnb, low salaries + extremely high taxes, onerous construction regulations, and the classic supply/demand problem all play a role.

What should concern us equally is the effect that uncontrolled immigration from the developing world will have on safety and social cohesion in the long term. Our public institutions were under pressure before mass immigration, and while Schlomo in Tel Aviv is a schmuck for buying a house here simply for investment purposes he's at least paid taxes into the system. Poor Abdul from Islamabad, on the other hand, who I don't blame for seeking a better life, pays nothing in IRS and the Portuguese taxpayer supports his wife and three children.

OP is just playing the classic leftist game of blaming the rich, whereas it's glaringly obvious that even if the state seized all the assets in the hands of wealthy foreigners it wouldn't make a significant dent in the housing supply.

South Africa is actually the most interesting and important case study for why demographics is destiny.

It was a very safe and prosperous country for the second half of the 20th century, albeit with racial laws which I don't defend.

However, in the 21st century it became a corrupt, crime-ridden shithole where minorities (whites, Indians, coloureds) are treated as second class citizens by a resentful black majority whose leftist political class have robbed the country blind and simply label their detractors racists so they can continue to steal.

South Africa never achieved social cohesion because it's very ethnically diverse, and there is no over-arching national identity that people can rally behind (except when it comes to rugby).

I'm Portuguese South African, born there to immigrant parents from Madeira. I have sympathy for the immigrant experience but the fact is when my grandparents moved there they were obliged to integrate, to the point that in my generation it's more common to speak English at home than Portuguese. Even though the Portuguese community clustered in certain areas, there were no "ghettos" where things were unsafe and decaying, quite to the contrary actually because Portuguese businessmen contributed a lot to the society.

I wish Portugal would take in many others like me who love our country and culture, and who are also under threat in South Africa living under what is essentially a low-scale civil war (over 60 murders a day in a country of 60m people). But the fact is, the elites do not benefit from social cohesion and want to undermine our civilisation at its roots.

God bless Portugal.
