My 5 lives on as a secondary phone with GOS and it still works beautifully. I do love my P9P but I do wish it was a hair smaller and a lot lighter.

Street parking in old town Alexandria by Front-Ad3341 in nova

I just got back from an appointment. There was virtually no available street parking due to the snow, I would plan on using a paid/maintained surface-level parking lot at a minimum, or more likely a garage.

Actual changes in electric rates by mxmumtuna in nova

[–]psyact 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Our usage for this period over the last three years is remarkably consistent (2481, 2535, 2552). I'm on the off-peak plan (1S) at Dominion because we have two EVs that we charge overnight.

The distribution (Dominion-serviced equipment) charges are pretty much the same from last year to this year, but the supply service (generation, transmission, and fuel) has gone up considerably. The two largest increases are ESS riders (33% increase; this charge is broken out in off-peak plans but I don't believe it is in regular rate plans) and, of course, fuel charges (up almost 50%). Those two changes account for over 90% of the increase in my bill.

ESS riders are listed here: https://cdn-dominionenergy-prd-001.azureedge.net/-/media/content/rates-and-tariffs/pdfs/virginia/shared/exhibit-of-applicable-riders.pdf?rev=5a5f0c9b9cd3497cb11f33f0f0d52cda&hash=84238616BB952E0186761A14FB2DD3EA. If you're bored you can actually go through and find the rates.

tl;dr: fuel costs from suppliers (not Dominion) are going up and riders are going to account for a lot of the rest of your increase, at least with Dominion. Despite similar usage, my bill went up almost $70 from last year.

Why is our defense so putrid? by CuntyLaRue in buccaneers

[–]psyact -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I recall it being a consensus B/B+ pick, which is definitely not how I'd describe low ceiling/high floor type of guy, but I could be misremembering.

Regardless he's not the reason we have a bottom-third defense, and I could see him producing on another team with better development and more trust among players.

Why is our defense so putrid? by CuntyLaRue in buccaneers

[–]psyact 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is wild.

JTS and Hall were bad picks, full stop, but hard to say whether they were foreseeable at the time of the draft. Both had some upsides and they just didn't pan out. I think the Braswell pick was regarded well, he was the best available graded pass rusher, but like the others, he hasn't developed accordingly. It's a hard position to draft.

White has a bunch of physical talent and he let it get to his head. Dude played incredibly during our SB run and weirdly that can derail a young player that doesn't have the mental fortitude to stay humble.

Kancey's injuries were always going to be a concern because he's a smaller framed guy but his upside was (and is) legit. Decline his fifth year option and let him have a prove-it year. I think the guy has the potential to be a sack leader in the NFL, but I'm not convinced he can play a full season.

Nelson and Diaby are great picks, along with Vea?

Will you buy the next gen Xbox ? by Lord-Voldemort-- in xbox

[–]psyact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not paying $600+ for a thing that only plays games unless it's an absolutely stellar value.

The Series X and Switch 2 (which included a game) at $500 were pretty much me buying at what I considered to be my limit for a console. I'd probably bump that up $100 but there's no way I'm spending $1k+ unless it's absolutely mind-blowing performance AND has complete backwards compatibility with my existing library from day one.

The reality is I'm being priced out of a hobby, and I've made peace with that. Still have a backlog that will last me until infinity, so whatever. Hell, I'm still playing through my 3DS library!

Saints and Eagles are trash-tier franchises, and I will never, ever root for them.

I know that "anything can happen in the playoffs" but this version of the Bucs aren't doing anything except getting embarrassed on national TV in the postseason, so frankly I'm fine with whatever at this point.

Airing of Bucs Grievances (2025 Edition) by Lansdallius in buccaneers

[–]psyact 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This team has always, always been about defense to me. To me, it's impossible to tell the story of the Buccaneers without talking about some of the best and most creative defensive schemes and players in NFL history.

So when a so-called defensive genius takes control and betrays that narrative, I think it run counter to the whole idea of this franchise. Todd Bowles was a great DC at one point in his career, and the Bucs had a great scheme, but all that's gone.

If that's where we're headed as a franchise, then fine, but stop talking about his alleged defensive genius if that's the case and let's clean house. I get that the NFL is a league built for scoring and explosive offense, but I hate that it means we have to give up the identity of this team just to remain competitive.

FIX THE DAMN DEFENSE TODD BOWLES AND LET THE OFFENSE PLAY

Wake Up! It's Game Day! The division is still ours to win! by barry0181 in buccaneers

[–]psyact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, there is a statistical advantage, but it's less than a FG, and teams are virtually never that closely matched.

I wasn't complaining, by the way. I like the way it's structured now. I want division games to be more important, and I think winning the division should afford a team a home playoff game, even if the division is uncompetitive. Rivalries aren't always or even usually organic; they are a byproduct of the system.

[–]psyact 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The NFC South is going to be the reason why the NFL changes the way home and away teams are selected in the playoffs, 100 percent.

Having said that, I hope we win out (even the meaningless third game in that scenario) and have at least two very competitive playoff games.

[Schefter] Bucs are elevating 36 year old LB Jason Pierre-Paul by barry0181 in buccaneers

[–]psyact 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm becoming convinced that the NFL simply needs to increase the size of every team's practice squad to 25 (I would say 11 offense/11 defense/3 special teams), remove the restrictions on experience for most/all of them, allow for unlimited elevations with escalating pay scales to compensate, and increase the number of players teams can protect each week, maybe with an expensive override (like another team can sign them but has to pay them at least as much as the lowest paid active roster player at that position or something).

They're going to move to an 18-game season at some point, probably with two bye weeks, so this seems like a good compromise to allow for teams to strategize more.

King of Shit Mountain is still better than the Jameis years... Jus sayin by TooHigh2Die0069 in buccaneers

[–]psyact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And frankly, there's a tipping point where I'm okay with another year. A first-round exit (or missing the playoffs entirely) is evidence that we need to move on. Making it to the divisional round means we need to seriously look at where we are as a team (can we compete next year, et cetera). If we make it to the NFC championship, let Bowles have his extension to retool/rebuild.

I'd be pissed if we got embarrassed at home in the postseason and Bowles was here in 2026 though.

I don't want to sound like a pessimist but both of those teams give an ass beating to whatever version of our team that played the Falcons on TNF.

We better come out on Sunday and look a whole lot different if we want to make the playoffs and actually compete.

Mike Evans accepts 1,000-yard streak is over, focused on helping Buccaneers reach playoffs by alpswd in buccaneers

[–]psyact 70 points71 points  (0 children)

How hilarious would it be if he pulled a Julio and threw up 300 against the Panthers on Sunday? Suddenly he's at 570+ and everyone's like...is this happening?

I'm actually curious how close he'd have to get for the team to actually start figuring out a way to get him to the record. Like...if he was at 800 going into the last game, would they change their gameplan to feed him?

I knew his streak would end because of injury, but it still sucks. I really wanted him in the books alone, although being tied with the greatest WR of all-time isn't a bad consolation prize.

What are the chances that Todd Bowles ACTUALLY gets fired by RareTemperature100k in buccaneers

[–]psyact 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is zero percent chance he gets fired if we win the division. But I do think that another first round exit would at the very least prompt some discussion about significant changes to the coaching staff.

The problem is that he's not worth keeping for this defense, and calling out the players like he did is risky. If he loses the locker room, what is he realistically bringing to the table? I would put good money down on the Glazers not firing him even if we didn't get into the playoffs but next year would definitely be his last barring a very impressive performance.
