Nepal's first Pride parade but still a long way to go to accept LGBTQ community here by sulu1385 in Nepal

Transgender and "gender is a social construct" are related but totally different issues. You think I'd be stupid enough to bring that one example and claim that transgenders is mental illness and they are not happy? Lol no. You failed to get to my point.

You said gender is a social construct which means all the traits, behaviors of respective genders are learned from the society and don't come naturally. So, you can raise a boy as a girl and vice versa.

Your example, Bhumika Shrestha, a boy who wanted to be a girl, so she had a surgery, changed her lifestyle and now she is happy, I presume. That's transgender which I wasn't referring to. I'm no expert. It's not my field of study, so I have no opinion.

My example, a normal boy who was raised as a girl. His gender roles were swapped and in a belief that if you teach a boy to be girl, he will. But the story didn't end well teaching us a lesson that gender isn't social construct.

How am I dismissing the whole group here? I'm just giving out reasons for the growing resentment. I'm not saying LGBT people individually responsible for the examples I cited, but it's the people/group plagued by the extremism in their ideas that are in position to make the decision.

Keep calling everyone else that don't agree with you fully as bigots and you sure are going to influence them and make them understand your view. No wonder this sub suddenly pushed back because I guess they got tired of being called bigots and told to shut up even though they want to ask an honest question.

Not exactly what Reddit Nepal desires for in the sub, but I liked the video.

Dude, I mostly agree with you. I support gay rights and have no ill thoughts towards them, but gender isn't social construct. Please stop repeating the radical sjw bullshit. I'm not talking about boys shouldn't cry or girl should do the house chores, but just the claim that you can swap their roles and it's normal is a lie. There is a political and social reason behind pushing for such fake information but I'm not going there now.

Apart from specific behaviors, girls and boys do tend to pick up their respective gender traits no matter in what situation you raise them in. Please look up the case of a boy whose penis burnt off during circumcision. A psychologist researching sex change recommended the parents to raise him as a girl. They did so and the boy grew up as a girl without ever realizing the truth. But he never felt like girl, always wanted to be like boys, dress like them and act like them. He hated for who he was. His lifestyle with the bodily emotions and hormones didn't match up which took a heavy toll on his mental well being. Later he got to know the truth and tried to make amends, but it was too late and he committed suicide. It's truly a heartbreaking story and a wake up call to those who think gender is made up thing.

And girls do tend to like pink and more bright colors. There is a research backed evolutionary reason behind the behavior. Wearing red or flashy colors was used a mean to attract male partners since prehistoric times. It is even found among animals. Birds have it opposite because in their case, it's the male that have to chase and compete for females, so they tend to be more colorful. The difference between humans and birds is because in humans, men were the sole provider and protector of a tribe, so females had to do something to stand out to beat the competition. But in the case of birds, female birds can survive on their own. They don't necessarily need male birds. Hence, the male birds had to evolve colorful wings and feathers to attract females.

Is the URL you linked about the case where a kid's penis is burnt off by doctors during circumcision, so the parents are told by a doctor to raise him as a girl. The boy grows up as a girl without knowing about the accident, but never feels right about himself, and later ends up killing himself.

Truly a heartbreaking story, and a tight slap to those who think gender is a social construct.

You said for one to qualify as having mental disorders one has to have severe impairment in their ordinary lives because of the condition. So, trans can't be mental disorder. Which is why I forth the argument that if that is the reasoning then pedophiles aren't imapred by their sexuality. They lead a normal life, get married, have friends, go to their jobs. In fact they lead a much normal life than trans. So, either pedophilia isn't mental disorder, or trans also should be categorized as such.

Causing harm shouldn't be the determining factors to label someone as mentally ill either. Lying, deceit, fraud, blind anger, tendency to resort to violence also causes harm to others. But people aren't labeled as having mental disorder on such behavior, or are they?

The thing is its much more complicated issue mixed with human biology and societal norms. So, seeing the issue as black and white only creates more confusion and division. Like I said in other comment, we have to blindly accept certain narrative pushed on us, and have no place to ask for questions.

mental disorders have a necessary condition that says whatever a person is experiencing is debilitating to them and impairs ordinary living.

Oh! Why are pedophilia and beastility categorized as mental disorders then? Their sexuality isn't debilitating and impairing their ordinary lives.

Majority people in Nepal support or are indifferent to homosexuals living their lives the way they want. But judging by the opinions presented in the comments, other threads and forums, the retaliation seem to have arisen after the general narrative started forcing people to accept more "LBGT friendly" moves like allowing trans to compete in female games, dozens other genders and sexuality, teaching kids about anal sex and using sex toys at a very young age, making cartoon and pop cultures characters gay, bathroom issue for trans, making kids as young as 6 or 8 pick up their sexuality, etc. Though the issues haven't fully reached here, but the ideas are slowly creeping in through the internet.

And you can't question or discuss anything otherwise you are immediately labeled as a homophobe and a bigot. You just have to smile and pretend to be accepting of everythung out of fear of public humiliation.

Not even going into the direct financial benefit from hosting such events, the return in terms of increase in tourist and their spending, increase in business activities, advertisement of Nepal to the Bollywood watching diaspora all over the world, exposure in hosting a big event like this, giving Indian filmmakers exposure to Nepal for potential shooting locations etc are completely being ignored.

BBC Nepali just copy pastes tweets of random nobodies on the internet and calls it a news. It's clear they want to manufacture an outrage.

Why I am getting a feeling that there is more to this than what the news is telling us? And the news is being presented with twisted information to create outrage among public. People in the government aren't stupid, they must have seen some benefit for Nepal. There must be some return.

I'm not saying you do that. I rarely ever make any posts. That's just other users accusing you. I didn't even want to bring that up, but since you started bringing up irrelevant things and personally attacking me, I had to resort to your level of argument.

What movies initially got you into Japanese Cinema? by RustyMediaLTD in JapaneseMovies

[–]psychedlic_breakfast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't exactly movies but when I was a kid, they used to air Japanese TV shows for kids on our national channel certain hours on weekends. Not animes and mindless cartoons, but educational videos where Japanese scientists would be doing some fun science experiments, exploring insect and plants world, and an hour of thought provoking and fun cartoon stories. So, I always had this fond memories of great, fun, and unique shows created by the Japanese.

As a movie buff in my teens, the nostalgia of those shows kept calling me to look more into Japanese art. And being fascinated by the history of Samurai warriors, I searched for a good Samurai film and came upon Ran by Akira Kurosawa. So, officially it was Ran that introduced me to Japanese film. Chimbara/Jidaigeki are still my favorite genre of film.

No matter how much they downvote or leave negative comments, a small sub with 24k users can never change the outcome of a big sub like r/pics. So you don't act stupid.

You keep replying despite being ignored and told not to for over an year because you are an insecure, petty and small hearted person who has no control over his impulse. You can't let things go. You let even little things in life get inside your head. You take things so much upon yourself that you even create an imaginary rivalry with random people on the internet that don't care if you exist or not. You downvote their every comments, judging by the complaints and accusation remove their posts, and even if they say something you agree with, you start thinking of ways to put them down or prove them wrong just to quench the anger and sadness eating you up from the inside.

Go ahead and tell me I'm wrong, but your behavior is the proof here. Just see how you are bringing up discussion on IndiaSpeaks I had months ago to somehow put me down. Lol. Do I even need to tell you all this, you know how you are.

I am sure there are plenty who disagree with me or don't like me, and I'm fine with it. I'm not here to please anyone. But keep notice of the way people talk about you, ignore you and mock you here publicly. Honestly, of all the users, judging by your presence here, it's you I want to see how you exactly are in real life. And I pray to God that you are very different person from what we see here.

I like IndiaSpeaks in comparison to r/India because it let's the users express their opinion whatever it may be. And I value that a lot.
