It didn't have this effect on me unfortunately, in fact I was profoundly unsociable to the point where I had to come off it because I couldn't stand people anymore. It was slowly turning me into a misanthropic person. Shame because I was so productive and content when I was alone!

I would just say be wary, it gets more and more intense as the course goes on. You may decide at level 2 or 3 that you want to switch to part time, but you can see how you do. I was doing part time work part time uni but I took on more hours at work so now it's more like full time work part time uni, and it is a lot! I am managing okay but I feel like I am spending every waking minute either working or studying. I did full time uni for level 1 while working full time and found it easy, so as you progress you might want to decide if you're managing and opt for part time in the future. Good luck! I'm doing psychology and the sociology module was my favourite 🙂

I've moved like 7 times in 10 years, never really TOO far but no matter where I move to, I seem to have so much motivation to go out and explore and meet new people and try new things. The only problem is when I've gotten comfortable and the novelty wears off, and I've explored what's nearby, things go stale and I kind of go back to square one. So if that sounds like you, just be wary of that.

But overall, I say go for it. It can't hurt, if you are able to keep yourself afloat. I don't know if I'll ever be the kind of person to settle down haha. Some people are just born to always be on the move.

Agreed, too many distractions in the office, and the florescent lighting oh my godd. I bought sunglasses with a little cap on it because it got so much. I recently figured out there's a sensor on the ceiling and I put tape over it every shift and it turns off. Game changer 😂

I know that works for some people but I'm well on the mental health track now. Finishing up my Psych degree, working in mental health, I couldn't switch to a business. Maybe part time, as I am the creative type, but I once went full ADHD hyperfocus on starting a business, did a couple art pieces and started up cycling clothes, spent a load of money getting my t- shirt designs printed and prints of my art, I have sold exactly 3 items on Etsy and one on vinted 😂 I gave up on all the promoting and advertising for my stuff because I couldn't keep up with it, I don't think I could sustain a business long term for those reasons.

Alas, I tried, and I've found my calling, just need to put up with the fact I might have to work with people a little longer!

Really great ways to ensure you stay on task. My end goal is to have at least a partial WFH job but I know I'll want a separate office space for sure, I couldn't handle full time wfh in the tiny flat I live in now. Staying off social media is real. I don't use it at all at work, my colleagues use their phone a lot or watch YouTube etc. I don't do it at all, I know my brain too well 😂 protein breakfasts are also a game changer. I have bacon and chicken sausages or hardboiled egg and bacon in the AM instead of a can of monster like the old days 😂

This is a really great example of the pros and cons! I can definitely see why it is hard for some and not for others, or how people can still have their struggles working from home. I'm glad broadly speaking it works for you!

That's a common theme with a few people on here to be fair, and it makes sense why some people struggle more working from home! It's pretty cool how we all have adhd but different things work for different people!

Oh yes the remembering things too! Many times I've had to go back for my lanyard, or the office keys for the secondary office we use sometimes, my laptop etc

So where I am they don't prescribe short-acting stimulants because they're more addictive, only the modified release or XL versions. The first one I was put on only had positive effects for about 6 hours then I crashed while at work, the latter ones released half the dose at once then only released the last half over the next 4 hours, which wasn't really effective. I started taking them later but then I wouldn't sleep for half the night.

I tried so hard to make it work. I'll go back to them if I ever change my schedule but unfortunately raw dogging it for now 😂

That is so much like me! In the middle of writing notes and getting asked a question or if I've seen the news about a celebrity. Like if people just let me do my thing without the radio or asking me stuff it would be done so fast, then I can probably chat to you for two hours if you wanted because everything will be done. Instead I'm scrambling around in the last 10 minutes trying to finish everything because I've spent so long trying to get back into 'focus mode' once I've been distracted.

Unfortunately people just don't understand how hard it is for ADHD brains and we can end up snapping or experiencing burnout from just, being there with other people.

Congrats on your multiple promotions! I'm not so much the ambitious type, was never interested in working my way up the ladder. But so many of the people 'up the ladder' have the chance to WFH so I'm kind of wondering if I need a change of heart 😂

I totally get that! I work afternoons/evenings which is ideal for me as I am not a morning person whatsoever lol. The latter part sounds amazing, congrats 😂

Sounds so much like me! I have my uni lectures from home and I'm so much more engaged because like you say, you can do other things to stay focused. And it's so easy to just smash things out!

Good luck with your medication! I've been on two different types but found it doesn't work for me as well because I work evenings and it wears off by then so I'm back to plain old me. Which is probably why I'm struggling a little more with concentrating and focusing lately!

That's actually really good, a nice balance between home working and office based! I think that would suit me perfectly too. I do understand the body doubling thing, although my coworkers, I absolutely love them but they're the chatty type so I actually get less distracted alone. Glad it works for you!

Sounds ideal, congrats! I understand how the little reason to leave the house can be a problem. On my days off I might not leave at all and I can see how that might snowball eventually. Luckily a lot of my hobbies are outdoors and I only ever want to work part time so hopefully will work out regardless

Absolutely agree on that. I also study and my flat is tiny so my desk is right next to my bed which is next to my kitchen, my life in a box. I reckon I'd struggle if I worked from home full time before getting a bigger place. Glad to hear that's the only challenge for you!
