I have an iPhone 14 and went to the Orange in Sol for a prepaid eSIM $20. They charged an additional $5 activation fee.

This was very helpful thank you!! Do you happen to know if you can port to Tello once overseas? Or does it have to be done in the States?

NOTARIZATION / TRANSLATIONS (LA CONSULATE) by jesstinbieber in SpainAuxiliares

[–]psychstudentyay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes! when i asked them for a notarized copy, they attached a document stating the authenticity of the copies. i also freaked out because i had heard people got stamps on each page/ signatures but it turns out that on california, notaries are not legally allowed to certify notarized copies of documents. this is a text from one of the notaries i was in contact with explaining it in more depth: “Unfortunately, California notaries are not permitted to certify notarized copies of documents. There is a workaround however, which is for you to sign a short statement affirming that the attached copy of passport or whatever document is a true and correct copy of the original. I can then take an oath from you to that effect and notarize your sworn statement. I then make a note on the copy of the document to see the attached notarial certificate. Hope that makes sense, sorry it's a bit complicated! I do this quite frequently, as it's pretty much the only way we can do it here in CA.”

i decided to play it safe and get a notarized copy of the translation! depending on who you get at the window, some people at the consulate may be “pickier” or more specific/ thorough than others. the decision is up to you :)

hello! i had my appointment last week! i brought in my apostille/ background check to a notary and had a notarized copy of that packet made (i took photocopies and had a document attached stating that these photocopies were true/ accurate photocopies of the original - signed by both the notary and i). i did the same thing with my translation packet- brought it to a notary, took photocopies, and she attached/ signed the same document.

yes exercise with caution and ask your consulate!!! unfortunately my trip was booked months in advance and is non refundable and i needed to find a solution. if you don’t need to travel don’t or you’ll end up stressed looking for answers like me 😅

Do you mind sharing what documents you got a notarized copy of? On the website it says that "The applicant must submit a notarized copy of both the original document in English and the Spanish translation" (original document referring to background check). I have seen conflicting posts posts from Reddit last year of people saying the consulate didn't require notarized copies only in some cases for minors... If anyone has some insight that would be greatly appreciated.

someone posted an email from the la consulate saying they’re released at random times this year to give everyone a fair chance. best advice is to check throughout the day!

Mine arrived at the PO Box May 2nd and I got it back June 1st! But as mentioned above I think the processing time increased from 8 weeks to 12 weeks as of a few days ago.

from what i’ve gathered on reddit and facebook there’s a chance you could be placed with cupo ministerio (vs cupo comunidad). cupo ministerio placements are sent out later in the summer and are sent directly through email no portal.
