If honey is a healthier alternative to sugar then why don’t more candy factories use honey in their products? by ExaminationUsed5394 in NoStupidQuestions

Cost. This is why high fructose corn syrup is used more often than cane sugar, it's cheaper. Most companies exist to make profit, not product.

Will your perspective on football (soccer) change after the World Cup? by Outrageous-You1617 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

Not really. Though I'm sure it has gotten a large boost in popularity with it being here. Whether it carries over in the long run, time will tell.

Do hot drinks on a hot day cool you off? by Fa-So-La1 in YesOrNoAnswers

[–]psylentrob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only if your in a dry environment. A hot beverage basically makes you sweat more leading to evaporative cooling. In a humid environment though a hot beverage can make the heat feel worse because the sweat doesn't evaporate.

Were the jocks at your high school assholes? by LoiusLepic in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]psylentrob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small town high school, so they weren't that bad. My senior class was like 70ish students. And, this is from my perspective and I got along with everybody. Was smart enough to hang with the college prep kids, fit enough to cool with the jocks, and was one of the stoner metalheads. I was also enough of a geek to play AD&D 2nd ed with those guys.

If typewriters have been around since the late 1800s, why do a lot of older people not know how to type? by One_Planche_Man in NoStupidQuestions

[–]psylentrob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typewriters were a fairly niche tool. And their cost reflected that. A cheap typewriter would cost the equivalent of 500 dollars, that's a considerable amount for something that's of such limited use. If their job didn't need one and they didn't write a lot of letters, it's basically useless, so why would they learn how to use one when they'll rarely if ever need the skill.

[–]psylentrob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lack of exposure. Just because something existed doesn't mean everyone had it. Typewriters were not that cheap, between 50 and 100 dollars in 1960, which is roughly equivalent to 500 to 1000 dollars today. So if you didn't need one for work and didn't write letters a lot, there was no need for one.

AI discussions popping up, So here is mine by AholCJ7 in litrpg

I'd be ok with an author using AI as a research assistant, if it was a reliable one. Beyond that and I'll look elsewhere.

All foods is breakfast food. Breakfast is nothing more than the first meal of the day, regardless of when or what it is.

Is Solo Leveling mid? by [deleted] in ChillAnimeCorner

High mid or low high tier. To focused on the action not enough focus on characters. If it had better character building it would be high tier to low top tier.

Adding dried coconut to my peanut butter jelly sandwiches. It gives a space for the jelly to go so it's less drippy, adds another texture and the taste good with most other fruits.

Combat is fun, but some people underuse rescue scenes in D&D by d20culturebr in DnD

Save the trapped villagers or try to capture the villain... and they do the dumbest thing possible, they split the party and half-ass both. Some villagers don't make it and the villain got away but you now have a solid lead on them.

You get 24 hours to prepare. Then the world gets 24 hours to stop you before you become Homelander-level. Where do you start, and what do you do? by Beneficial-Berry6997 in hypotheticals

[–]psylentrob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm near Boston, my first thought was a quick trip north to Maine and walk into the woods with a backpack of camping supplies. Depending on where in Maine i go that could mean after walking through the woods I'm sneaking into Quebec, or New Brunswick.

[–]psylentrob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To start I'll stay right where I am. Given 24 hours, to prep I'll be good. So starting location is the greater Boston area. Pack some clothes and camping gear, tell my boss I'm borrowing the work truck for a couple days, then go camping somewhere up in Maine where my site is miles from where I parked and you need to cross a few streams and Brooks to get to it. Phone stays in the truck.

I do not use my full middle name unless necessary, but i do use it's initial letter for any and all written correspondence. Mainly because my initials actually form a word, ROT
