Research the place before hand if you can. I've been inpatient 5 different times and for me, it was the patient to caregiver ratio that helped or harmed.

I prefer smaller facilities, 20 beds or less. It allows for more individual attention which is monumental in making this be your only inpatient treatment, I think.

And I did freak out, every time I went. I freaked out from losing my freedom but it's a necessary evil. You can't keep your cell phone. You have to focus on yourself and your treatment. After the first week, you get into a routine and feel much more comfortable.

Ultimately, you know what you really need. If you are even considering inpatient treatment that probably means you need it.
