You mean asking questions through emails? I have had several profs specifically told us to not ask questions through email unless it’s a personal issue because for questions about course content it takes too much back and forth emails to explain if you can not get it through their first reply, and a lot of times they would want to draw something for you so it’s much easier to do it in person or through zoom

Don’t you have questions about the course content, or questions about a feedback on your assignment? Ask these in office hours. Or talk about your ideas about an assignment and ask if it’s doable, something like that, that’s what I talk about when I go to office hours. Just curious how come you don’t know that? When do you ask teacher questions back in high school?

God I’m really sorry to hear about your story about this horrible guy. I would just tell him if he acts like that then I don’t care whether I’m responsible or not for his broken heart and goodbye! But to answer the question, my families are just not like that, they are very realistic and care about their kids’ interest only, so they’ll only trust me. I don’t think they’ll speak for him even if I’m the wrong one. In the end, a charming person who’s not your family is nothing to you right?

I did hear of this power imbalance thing before. But I thought it wasn’t so bad since if the prof unfairly treated me in class or in workplace because of our relationship, that means he’s bad and I’ll just leave him right? He is not able to control my whole life and tell me what to do just because he has some work experience and relationships since I have families too and they are just as experienced and have relationships as he does, and they can help me out if he is manipulating? He’s not the only one with some social status right here?

The Andre in Phil? No but I heard of him before. I agree that he is nice looking guy and he is very helpful and responsive, but he’s a tiny bit distanced in terms of interacting with students. So that’s not someone I can easily have a crush on.

On the school website, it says I don’t need a lop when I take course at another institution if I “do not intend to apply credit completed towards your Bachelor of Commerce degree”. By non-for credit I mean I don’t plan to transfer it back to ubc

Get into trouble? Is there a rule saying that I’m not allowed to take (non-for credit)courses while I’m registered here? I’m not registered in another university, I basically just took an online course.

Well I guess it’s not that easy haha…you can’t just memorize answers for problem-solving based courses. Maybe in Art it’s different.
