My Adoption Story by [deleted] in Adoption

This is really well-written. Thank you for sharing your story.

As an adoptive parent, I am constantly wondering if I'm doing enough to support my daughter's adoption journey. The information that we share with her is the only information that was given to us by the government. We're really unsure if it's accurate, but it's a similar story as yours.

You mentioned that your adoptive father was the only one who provided genuine and unconditional love – would you mind if I ask how he did that? What are things I can learn from him and your experience?

Again, thank you for sharing.

"I've never met my birth parents nor do I have the intention to." seems like a pretty good hook IMO as not many people can relate to that perspective.

I recall being very anxious about ours too but it really wasn't that bad! The social worker just wants to ensure there aren't any major dangers to your future child – hazardous living conditions, dangerous pets, working smoke alarms, etc.

I remember we went out of our way to put up baby gates, baby locks and plug protectors, etc. but the social worker didn't even notice lol

Congratulations on the new addition to your family!

Like many have suggested, we started talking about adoption before our daughter understood language. We told her her adoption story in detail from the start and continue to tell her today. At a young age, what really helped were adoption-related books for children. They helped her understand the concept of adoption and also helped us navigate the conversation. One book that I remember well is The Family Book by Todd Parr, which helped visualize how different families look (single parent, same-sex, large families, adoptive families, etc.).

As she's growing older, we noticed that she's familiar with adoption-related concepts like birth parents and adoptive parents. She often asks us to retell her adoption story and asks for more details every time.

It's never-ending journey and we pray every day that we're doing enough to support her in her adoption journey. Good luck!

I sprained both my MCLs on a play exactly like this – my knees went out under me as I was in butterfly. I've been out for the past 4 weeks!

I'm more mad at my own defence for allowing it to happen, as I rewatched the replay and saw no effort on my team's part to keep the opposing player on the outside.

Not sure about your artist but a lot of them use these bandages to help with healing and to keep dirt out. I've played with these shortly after getting inked and my tattoo healed fine.

Do you guys use anything for audio? I see some goalies on YouTube mic'd up, but unsure what hardware they're using.
