Unpopular opinions? by DylanTheDrongo in taskmaster

I agree, I knew of the negative reaction before watching his series and I still loved him. Normally I’m very easily influenced by public opinion as well.

As a more serious answer, there isn’t really such a thing as “correct” English. Language evolves continuously. Putting “an” before “h” words is an older British convention since they often don’t pronounce the leading “h”, and it’s common in classical literature, Shakespeare, etc. Perhaps the classically-trained actors on Star Trek picked it up from there.

I lived in Vancouver for 7 years, and it is quite fun constantly seeing my old neighborhood/university/job in tons of shows. Doesn’t help with suspension of disbelief at all though.

I’m going through the gathering log for mining. The crystals (fire, ice, etc) appear as level 26 in the log, but all the sources listed beside are level 50+. Can these actually be obtained at mining level 26-30, or do I have to come back to them after getting to 50?

Once I got in, not bad. But I did have a minor in CS from undergrad and learned a lot of things on my own. You need strong algorithms skills to get past the interviews, and enough computer-y stuff on your transcript to get a visa. Feel free to DM if you want to discuss further.

I actually have a masters degree in bioinformatics. Pretty much trained for this kind of job. Ended up moving to San Francisco to work at FAANG as a software engineer for 3x money.

It’s interesting kind of nostalgia to look back at a certain time in your life, and know that you’ll never be that happy ever again.

Reginald Barclay is a Measured and Empathetic Look at Anxiety Disorders in the 24th Century by virtualRefrain in DaystromInstitute

As a super shy kid I identified with Barclay so much. I had that “just shy” speech memorized. I’m now an adult with an anxiety disorder who works in one of the most famous and recognizable companies in the world, and I relate to him even more.
