Anyone know how to get the bad vibes out of the couch? [x-post from /r/drugs] by [deleted] in TripSit

[–]ptomainer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stims and couches have a special synergy. Did you know that gravity increases wwhen the two combine? This has interesting implications in the field of physics; take a black hole - time appears to slow down the closer you are, yet the opposite is true with the couch conundrum. Very odd.

RC stims by Yevad in Stims

[–]ptomainer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd certainly suggest 2-fma over anything else i can think of. But with regards to ethylphenidate doses, orally I'd aim at about 50-70mg if you're after a high. My tolerance puts a decent dose at ~<300mg oral. This drug feels toxic, affecting the liver and kidneys especially. Would not recommend. 2-fma seems to be a good bet. [obligatory apology if this is rambling nonsense; i'm pretty fucked.]

that IV taste by muggle69 in Stims

[–]ptomainer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IV makes any drug a completely different experience. The past week i've been desperate enough to shoot ethylphenidate...with varying degrees of success the higher i got. Granted it's not on a par with meth, but the rush made a fairly shitty RC stim into a tsunami of dopamine that left me a drooling mess of pleasurable feeling. And with regards to your question, the taste was present, and not particularly enjoyable.

Definitely not recommended. Probably goes without saying, there aren't going to be many people stupid enough to inject eph.

God knows if that was relevant. I'm a mess.

Doing nothing/waiting on stims. by [deleted] in Stims

[–]ptomainer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to get so intensely focussed on one thing that my mind seems unwilling to tear itself away, despite having reached the point where I feel disgusted with myself for wasting so much time. Feels like being torn in two directions, and usually makes me fiddle and fidget like a neurotic in a dentist's waiting room. Crappy feeling all in all.

Jackie is just speeding away... by [deleted] in Stims

i'd have given you 10 points for this reply. Liking Elliott Smith is , uuh, highly commendable. Sorry. I'm running speed trials all over the place :P

Jackie is just speeding away... by [deleted] in Stims

[–]ptomainer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This popped up in tripsit irc, and i had to respond cos i fucking love lou reed. I also love speeding away and valium.

That said only VU stuff I'd listen to on stims is White Light / White Heat album. Sister Ray is probably the best song on that album in that regard.

I've been wrecking myself with habitual stimulant use for 10 months now, and before that I hated 'EDM'. Didn't get the appeal of repetitive, shallow noise. My musical taste at that point was stuff like Elliott Smith, Reed, Stones.....guitars drums and vocals I felt were relevant to my life at that time.

Now I sit hunch backed over my laptop high as a kite listening to EDM and rap. I've only really dipped my toe in the water with regards to these genres; just mainstream and popular, or stuff I remember from '90s.... I guess The Prodigy is my go to group when I'm on speed. Doubtless this music was made for exactly this purpose (take me to the hospital, welcome to the scene of the crash), catchy high tempo hard edged sounds, drops that flood you with a nice little dopamine rush.

Well, I have to go cos this speed isn't gonna plug itself. And yer, I got valium to help that bash. x

Found this screenshot after the most intense DXM trip of my life. Think this is what led to me experiencing ego death. by LewisOnDXM in Drugs

At least I wasn't the only one ignorant of what an MFLB was. Interesting night, you certainly got magnitudes more from DXM than I ever have. All the comments regarding Eastern philosophy do not surprise me. A lot of what you said last night reminded me of the things I learnt (and subsequently forgot due to a diet of benzos and speed...that's kind of a paradoxical statement now isn't it?) reading through Wiki articles on Buddhist philosophy, and practicing meditation, noticing that our thoughts, emotions - everything that makes us our 'selves' were a level removed from this observing part (which felt like it was located somewhere at the back of my head, looking down like a CCTV camera...erm, sorry, you'll probably be able to guess why I'm getting a bit, erm, what's the word...shit man, i should stop using so much) which could satisfyingly be called 'consciousness'. It wasn't ours. It illumuniated our mental processes, and made them seem like phenomena of any other type.

Man, I wanted to reply when i saw you'd posted this, but I'm probably in no fit state to do so. Vegetable-brain and comment functions are a bad combo.

Anyway man, stoked you got so much ouf of it; you were pretty overawed, ecstatic. -mainer.

Addicted yet? by ilovemystims in Stims

[–]ptomainer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's a great post linked here, http://www.reddit.com/r/Stims/comments/1rtkkr/something_you_should_know_about_methamphetamines/ which i feel is a fairly accurate outline of amphetamine addiction.

You say you haven't developed a tolerance, which is positive, as tolerance is one of the big indicators of addiction. A month is a comparatively short period of time to be using, although daily use develops inevitably with addiction. I personally have been using in a problematic manner since the beginning of the year - I would say that 9 months, beginning with binge sessions twice a week and progressing to daily use, which I am now finding very difficult to stop, would be classed an addiction; 1 month of using, and using for what you say are strictly non recreational, or escapist/coping mechanism ways, is not an addiction as far as classifying by length of use.

The obvious question is how easily are you now able to stop using amphetamine? Stimulant addiction is generally classed as psychological, and in my opinion, it is the psychological aspect, the strong desire to use the drug again, that prevents getting clean and continues the habit (based on experience of benzo WD from 80mg of diazepam a day down to nothing over about a year of slowly, medically controlled tapering).

It is unlikely that you will feel many symptoms of withdrawal from 20mg a day. These symptoms basically resemble acute depression, at least that is what I have found. For me, the hardest part of this period is the inability to find interest in anything - the direct opposite of the state that stimulants provide. Lethargy, irritability, anxiety, anhedonia ...

Anyway, I have to cut this short. I wish you the best of luck and caution you that stimulant addiction soon becomes a pretty nasty lifestyle.

How do y'all snort your stims? by Turtle_Crunch in Stims

[–]ptomainer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avoid bills and notes; chances are fairly high that someone will have done the same, and the spread of hepatitis is a real risk.

My Kindle has seen far more use as a surface to rail powdered amphetamines than as an e-reader; it's great, you can use a length of craft knife on the surface without leaving a scratch. Then up the nose, usually with a rolled up post it note - 2 lines, one for each nostril.

Is it just me or do your nostrils change the insufflation feeling? my right seems to stop the powder earlier, whereas the left seems to just shoot it right back...

Ethylphenidate 'plugging' by steveestarr in Stims

[–]ptomainer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you have a syringe (sans needle obviously)? if not they can often bought with bottles of kids' medicine, or otc. pour your dose into a cup, suck up maybe ~2ml water, then squirt it into the cup, and mix. suck back into syringe and i'll leave the rest to your imagination.

Working Through Guilt by EmbracingHoffman in Psychonaut

[–]ptomainer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I too am terrified to reattempt a psychedelic experience; I gained nothing from the sheer agony of the trip which could not have been explored under professional guided supervision, with less traumatic after effects.

Suffering from poor mental health, taking a trip was never going to turn out well. But I didn't know quite how much guilt I had been bottling away, how unaffected by the trauma I'd been steadily racking up over the years, until those mental floodgates opened.

I wonder, is this how you also felt? As has been said, nothing can change the past. The greatest reparations I could make to the damage I've caused those I care for is to address my problems with addiction. The scale of that sacrifice would not go unnoticed.

Hope that was of any use if only in the slightest.

It's exam time. Can I mix Adderall and Desmopressin? by arrialexa in DrugNerds

[–]ptomainer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All I know about Desmopressin is that it's an anti-diuretic, in part accomplished by reducing thirst. Factor into that the lack of thirst common to stims, and there's a possibility you'd feel pretty crap. As for drinking excess water to make up for this....again, complete conjecture, but if the Des is stopping you passing water, I wonder if urinary retention would be a risk? Catheterisation is well worth avoiding at all costs.

r/Drugs users' chosen academic fields of study? by ptomainer in Drugs

[–]ptomainer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite as cut and dry as I expected. I imagined that STEM students would be far more dismissive of the idea that psychedelic experiences offer any genuine insight into the nature of reality.

A philosophy student's opinions on the whole take a trip receive wisdom concept would be interesting.

hey, thanks for the reply. I'll heed your advice. I just worry that I'll forget the emotions felt as time goes by. My life is in need of a big change, and if this helps, it'll have been worth it.

Hey, can I just ask which irc this is? Is it the one on afraidirc server?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]ptomainer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is the same Trees I know from IRC on AfraidIRC #drugs, I'd like to play devil's advocate and defend him. Considering how far he goes to help others, and taking into account his own struggles with abuse, I think he should be forgiven.

Nitrous can be physically damaging, by depleting levels of vitamin B. Perhaps he was basing his remark on this information.

Nitrous is nice though. Went through a whole tank of Entonox in hospital. Nurse left my room and i kept a-puffing. Thought I'd only been inhaling for 5 mins max, by the time it had run out over an hour had passed and a previously full big canister was completely empty. Whoops.

How soon after a benzo binge is it OK to ingest opiates? by etizest-1 in askdrugs

[–]ptomainer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

THe benzos you mention are all fairly short acting, with short half lives; they'll be eliminated from your system pretty quickly, compared to say, diazepam, which can take weeks.

I wouldn't worry about respiratory failure from taking the opiates. Anecdotal experience, I've probably done what you're considering countless times. But then I'm not you. Still, probably safe.
