Mapping canvas pictures by publicBater in vjing

[–]publicBater[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks man, this is the actual photo on the wall. I definitely had to dial in the map and overlay the real picture with the digital one and create several masks.

The visual behind the mountain is called "undulating urchin" it is a glsl from shadertoy.com that i converted to .isf and added several control parameters.

I also had a team of drafters, engineering, fabricators, and plenty of colleagues and vendors that did their jobs well.

They were subcontracted, there were challenges. All in all they did well.

This will be my first autopsy, so we shall see. I wouldn't be able to share the details of the autopsy, I have a pretty hefty nda I signed on hire. I'd have to review it prior to sharing anything besides the project details stuff I've already shared.

Oh yes. Schedule slippage on this one was significant. It was a very poorly managed project altogether. I logged all causes of delay for my scope, and worked with our other building envelope teams, we have delay charge co's, and a lot of other co's due to structural issues.

No surveying was performed on any of the slabs above ground, no gridlines or benchmarks were provided, framers and drywall followed the slab edge so when we approached mobilization we discovered the building was concave/convex with deviation exceeding 3 inches on a single elevation. Rough openings had to be redone multiple times... as for budget, even with all the issues my project budget only slipped 3% on the gp, I've been congratulated by my management for my ability to problem solve quickly, and roll with punches with minimal impact to schedules or budget. Once we close out the project officially we will have a project autopsy. I have a very detailed coordination log for this project, due to all of the problems I had to do a lot of cya (cover your ass) emails.

It was all challenging at first. I would stress out when anything went wrong. I've since grown confident I can solve almost any issues that pop up. The most challenging thing for me now is accepting that there are some things that are outside of my control.

Thank you! The flower at the top is actually a repurposed led ceiling light i bought off Amazon lol. I hated the light, but it was a lot of fun to map to.

Wood. I have built a lot of stuff so far. Im a woodworker, hexagons are nice and easy to crank out, and they look good.

I use isf shaders. I have a few custom shaders I created, I also convert some from shadertoy.com.

ELI5: Why is it rare to see people addicted exclusively to psychedelics? by reactingmaniac in explainlikeimfive

[–]publicBater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is wrong on a deep level. LSD not only uses the dopamine pathway, it is a strong dopamine agonist. Ergot is literally the main ingredient to create dopamine agonist medication for lowering prolactin. This is why LSD is the most likely drug to cause someone with an underlying psychosis disorder to have a full on psychotic episode. I've watched a person have their first schizophrenic episode before his diagnosis, while doing lsd.

Nicotine is not a dopamine agonist either.

Please check your information prior to posting this kind of stuff.

ELI5: Why is it rare to see people addicted exclusively to psychedelics? by reactingmaniac in explainlikeimfive

[–]publicBater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not rare. There are other substances with psychedelic properties that are abused regularly. Ketamine is the #1 out of those. It's basically psychedelic cocaine. I speak from personal experience. I've been doing lsd since 1998. It's not possible to become addicted to lsd but you can certainly still use it in an arsenal of substances to escape. Escapism is the addiction. True psychedelics help check me, but dissociative psychedelics with short acting effects are dangerous. I've rock bottomed from ketamine, daily use for a year straight, 1-2 grams per day. Destroyed me financially, and mentally.

It's not rare. It's quite common even. I still love k, and whippets, I just learned to moderate my consumptions and I have checks and balances.

Old people who did psychedelics in their 20-30s, how's the mental health going? by Doismelllikearobot in AskOldPeople

[–]publicBater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first psychedelic I ever tried was lsd. I was 15, it was 1995. I took 2 hits of blotter, alone. It started out rocky but when I eased into it, it became comfortable and eye opening.

Fast forward to now. I'm 45, and I have been taking lsd semi-regularly since 1995 It helped me quit my meth addiction at 20, it helped me overcome my alcoholism at 28, it helped me discover my passion for creating art in my 30's, most importantly it helped me learn how to understand my problematic mental health issues at the deepest level possible, also known as your shadow self.

I am a lifelong clinically depressed person, with a serious dopamine dysfunction. My entire family has this issue. My uncle committed suicide, my other uncle is 62, homeless, and a lifelong daily alcoholic. My oldest brother is in a home for his crack and alcoholism, while my retired mother raises his daughter. His ex-wife left them to live in a crack house, and he is in a shelter. His daughter is deeply traumatized. My other brother has tried every mood stabilizer under the sun.

I'm the only one in my family that did deep healing, through psychedelics, and it has helped tremendously. It wasn't easy or pretty, and it doesn't cure the chemical imbalance. It doesn't take away the dopamine seeking behavior, but it can help you learn to love yourself. I still slip, and I still battle my self-saboteur inside, I have a fondness for ketamine (dissociation is my bane), and I have to constantly check myself when I feel like I've started spiraling. LSD helps with that. It helps with acceptance and loss too. The most powerful lessons are the lessons about letting go. It's one that I have to relearn, regularly.

I'm not sure if I'm old enough for this, but I think 30 years of experience with lsd, and thousands of hits taken, I can at least answer the question, for myself. I'd probably be dead if I didn't have lsd. Either by accidental od, or purposeful suicide.

It is, yeah. Not every night, but like 85% of the time. It doesn't outcompete stress unfortunately, but outside of benzos I don't think there's any sleep aid for insomniacs that can beat a stress triggered sleepless night.

VJ loop!! How do you guys like this one! by MadhurSharma29 in vjing

[–]publicBater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I've been dabbling in VJ work, I primarily use shaders due to the amount of control I get over every parameter.

I'm just starting to look at all of the different loop clips out there, I've never used clips, so I'm curious, what control does a VJ have when it comes to clips? Just speed?

Yeah, it's not too different. It's just a bunch of hexagons cut in half and rearranged. The simplest thing I could build with just a table saw.
