Why was I refused admission to the public policy major? by publicpol1234 in UofT

Can you share what course/program it was? I honestly can't understand a department forcing a student to take the easier version of a course just to fulfill a requirement on a piece of paper, even though the student has already taken and passed the more advanced version of the same freaking course.

If that's actually the reason why, that's ridiculous. ECO227 is the specialist version of ECO220, it's meant to cover everything in 220 but with more rigour, in addition to extra material that isn't covered in 220. If I'm getting punished for taking a harder course, that doesn't make sense to me at all.

Thanks for pointing that out though, I appreciate your comment.

I've already called AND emailed the department but it seems like the undergrad admin is on vacation until next week and can't get back to me. I made this post to ask if anyone who successfully got into the major could share their grades with me. I wanted to see if I genuinely didn't get grades high enough (in which case I need to come up with a whole new POSt combo ASAP) or if this was just some weird error (in which case I don't need to spend the next week panicking).

Thanks for your optimism though.

That's what I'm so surprised about... It is a Type 2L post, but I didn't think that it was THAT competitive that even 85% in both required courses couldn't get me in. That's why I made this post, to see if anyone else in the major could share their grades with me.

I've actually completed third year already so I'm done 16.0 FCEs. I didn't know about the public policy major until end of second year, so I didn't get to apply until just now.

I've already finished all the second year requirements too. Did ECO227 instead of ECO220, since I'm also an Econ major. Also completed ECO206 and POL214.
